Russian food is typical Eastern European fare. Meat and potatoes type stuff, dumplings, foods that are typical of a northern climate and using grains like rye, buckwheat, barley, etc. That being said, it’s a huge country that has a lot of influence from the countries on the southern borders such as with Georgian cuisine. One thing a bit more unique is that Russian meals from my experience have a lot of soups served with lunches and/or dinners.Forgive me for sounding naive here but talk a little about Russian food. What are some of their specialties and/or some of your preferences.
Also - do they have Taco Bell?

They drink a lot of tea - I would say it is very much a tea culture and coffee is also popular but not as much as tea.
I have tried to cook a number of Russian foods, one example is the pirozhki - it’s like a hand pie or a pasty but the ones I made are shallow-fried. Lots of fillings are usual like cabbage or potatoes. Mine have chopped hard boiled egg and green onions and are pretty good.

Doesn’t exist here. Barely any Mexican food in StP.So... Russian Taco Bell?
Yeah... Saw him in a fancy restaurant with his wife and a couple children. Only got to take the spy photo but did go over and shake his hand and say hello when he left. Told him I was a big fan of his work and then he replied “Thank you brother” in that whispering voice he uses in the movies. Was really cool.
Things were in lockdown until mid-year, they have mostly opened back up but it’s getting sketchy again with the number of cases. I wouldn’t be surprised if they request additional closures again but so far they are being conscious of the negative impact on local businesses. I think that some universities have gone back to virtual classes. Is it business as normal there with covid going on?
