I actually haven't used a radar detector since I bought my GTO back in 08. No tickets here. (im sure i just ruined it tho  ), I have considered getting back into one tho, especially with how much my RED bmw stands out. I always keep an eye on the escort max 360 waiting for a good deal.
You've been super lucky since you have motorcycle cops everywhere out there.

Escort max 360 saved me more times then I can count. I also always run waze on any divide highways to work or trips on interstates.

Its amazing how many people get in my truck and ask if radar detectors still work. They just look at me when I tell them which on coming car is the cop even in the dark.

I have one in the Hellcat. I don't know enough about the technology to argue if it will pick up the cop shooting you before he/she realize it is you speeding. What I will say is that when it goes off I know not to do anything stupid, so I see it working well in that regard because you can't always see where the po-po are. I do my best as well to be aware of my surroundings and never solely rely on the detector.

I relied heavily on my Solo S2 and it paid for itself many times over. Just don’t see anything on the market that interests me, especially if I stay with a battery model. The Solo S4 is such a disappointment.

When I’m on the road by myself I find myself not speeding anywhere near as much. Usually just bin traffic where I have a fighting chance, lol.

What are everyones thoughts on disabling K band?
The newer escorts have much better filtering for all of the different cars radar cruise controls that false alert my 9500ix. One of the reasons I am probably going to upgrade to one and keep the 9500 for my cars I don't drive nearly as often.

Re-reading this thread makes me remember a story SRT41320 SRT41320

Once I was driving back home from somewhere and had just pulled onto Randall after getting off 90 w/Rodger. The first light caught us and of course we pulled alongside each other at the light, windows down LOL'ing at each other prior to ripping off a pass from the currently red light.

I brought the car up on the two-step and just as it hit full boost - I ran a 5" dump off the turbo basically downward toward the street before the K-member. It made awesome loud noises. I sure do miss that car! Thank God before the light went green, my radar Ka goes full tilt.

I let off the throttle and the car makes that hilarious sound of coming off a two-step and blowing off all the boost it had built up and I just roll away from the light slow like I was driving my grandmother around or something. Sure enough, there was a cop sitting in a parking lot off on the left side of Randall that was packed with cars are hard to see. He sure heard me tho and knew what was about to go down...

https://www.radardetector.org/ Radar Roy does a good job reviewing the latest and greatest. Waze gives a radar detector a run for its money on the highway. but for back road tom foolery, radar is a must. I currently have a Uniden R3 that works great and does an awesome job of filtering out false positives
Where were you seeing the overall roundup/review? I’m missing it. The one for the one for the R1 & R3 is from 2017.

Radar saved me from a ticket today.

From the FUCK thread:

Also, on the way to work this AM, I pull onto 34 here in Yorkville and immediately, my radar starts going off like crazy. I get up to 45 (speed limit) and turn on my cruise control. I'm in the right lane and maybe a mile down the road I see the cop in the median. Truck in the left lane a few car lengths behind me must also have radar and is going 45. There's a small gap between us that remains constant. I get the instant on radar notification, meaning the cop targeted me once directly and shot his radar to get a reading (I assume)

As we get closer to the cop, a red Accord Sport 2.0T is coming up behind me at 55+ MPH I have to imagine. He clearly does not see the cop or have radar. He cuts between me and the truck that's 4-5 car lengths behind me. This all happens as we're 200 yards from the cop and he started to accelerate past me when he sees the cop and slams on the brakes.

Needless to say, cop pulls out, truck gets behind me and he flys past us to catch up to the red Accord and lights him up. Next light me and trucker are next to each other and he's having a good laugh about it.

This is why I have a radar detector and always will.

Nearly the same intersection on Randall just north of 90, but back around 2000ish. Similar scenario with me in my LS1, and buddy next to me in his LT1 Camaro late at night. Just about to hit it as the light was changing for us, and my radar lit up like the Griswald Christmas house. I eased into the gas while my buddy took off, but he quickly noticed me not running with him and backed off fairly quickly sensing something wasn't quite right. Cop at the intersection stayed put, and we were able to laugh about dodging a bullet on that one.

I still use a cheap modern $100-$150ish Whistler and Cobra (one in both wife's and my car) that has decent anti-falsing technology. Only a few Mazdas seem to set them off when I'm right behind them. Always gives me enough warning of the real thing, and combined with Waze, and being extra alert when I'm going more than 10+ over, I've had good fortune to not get any speeding tickets for the past 10+ years (knock on wood).

I wish I could have something on the motorcycle, but don't really have anywhere to mount something, and probably wouldn't hear or see it anyway. I just try to stay extra vigilant for cop hiding spots and hope they don't get a good lock on me with a small surface area before I can identify them and slow down to a reasonable speed.

Disable X and K (not Ka) band should be all you need to configure.
