🔧 BUILD PSJ's 1967 LS Turbo Camaro Build

General Information

Hi all, I bought this Pro Street 1967 Camaro. It had a 502 BBC crate engine and 8-71 supercharger. I have this driveline sold and it's getting pulled immediately.

LS + turbo is the plan. Maybe I'll keep it big tire and see who will want to grab a lane....

Finally figured out my brake issue, the master cylinder pushrod was too short. I ordered a longer one from Speedway (3/8 24 thread), did some mocking up, cut it down. Drove around for 30 minutes and in traffic!!! Brakes feel really good.

Now I'm going to back to my cooling system and work on the operating temps, they were a little higher than ideal. I have 2 easy changes I can make. One is turn on fan sooner, 180F is what I will try. I have it the fan coming on at either 190 or 195 now. Other is raising up the fan. I mounted it lower to give the intake pipe room, but since my radiator is a dual pass, I'm losing cooling value. So I will raise up the fan as much as I can, 1.5-1.75 in that range. I'll do those two changes and then see how we do.

Been a while since I worked on the Banana, so today I put in 5 gallons of E85, aired up the rear tires, and drove the car. Ended up driving about 75 minutes today. First 60 minutes were good, brakes are really good, but then I blew the coolant fan fuse and got stuck. Luckily a buddy lived nearby and did a parts run for me (fuse) and brought some tools. Ended up having to do some temporary wiring to get the fan to come on (relay toast?) and that was the other 15 minutes of driving. Most of the driving was Chicago North side stop and go. I did jump on I94 for a little bit too.

I've had the car out with my buddy Jay Blanchard in Western MI, about 2.5 hours away. (www.JayWire.com).

Burning the radiator fan fuse was a concern and I don't want to burn my car down, so he's going over the cooling system + it's wiring, and overall wiring.

Already converted my Taurus fan to more of a full shroud setup.

He's redoing some of the wiring system, some grounds were first on the list. He has wired a lot of cars of buddies, and one of them is a similar build to mine and has run a drag week without issue. I'm excited.

Car has been with Jay Blanchard (JayWire solutions in Western MI), he's finished up fixing the cooling system and some wiring issues. He loaded it up and is bringing it to Jon Capizzi for some street tuning, maybe some dyno hits. Should have the car back Friday or Monday. Much excite.

I love the old 70 amp 10mm metripack relays for fans. I always look for em in the yards.

If you wouldnt mind....could you ask him if he's ever found a supplier for the 10 MM silver plated female terminals for the oe maxi fuse blocks and 70 amp relays?

Nothing quite like a proper overbuilt electrical system. you'll be happy you spent the money. I don't want to even think how much I've spent on various terminals and crimpers for every assorted Metripack and Packard connector that my jalopies use....

I could ask him, do you have a pic of what you are talking about?

Most of my wiring was okay, but sounds like you know what happens is 10-15% has issues. I'm happy to have someone more expert go over all the wiring for piece of mind.
I've been starting to think that this connector is actually one of the newer GT series units since I cannot seem to find these terminals.

The eight millimeter stuff is great but I found several of these high current 10mm (1mm blade thickness) connectors and I want to use them on the olds.
