why's that?

im not doubting you, just have no idea.
Infrastructure. You’d literally have to build hydrogen stations everywhere. And they aren’t cheap to build since hydrogen is hard to store. Also the refueling while relatively fast for one vehicle has a problem because you have to wait for the system to re-pressurize and re-condense the hydrogen into a form the next vehicle can accept. So it’s not like a gas station where one car just fills right after another.

the vehicle itself needs hydrogen storage which is seemingly not a problem but since h2 is so hard to store because of the small molecule size and the temperature difference between inside the tank and outside causing fatigue, you need to replace the storage tank every few years (8-10).

also just why? Why use electricity to pull hydrogen out of the air or water. Store it, transport it, pump it into a car just to convert it back into electricity (that’s stored in batteries in the car) just to use it like it’s an electric car? Why not cut out that whole middle step and just use the electricity to move the car instead of converting states of matter around?
