New Ryzen 4000 APUs are absolutely shredding the mobile performance market, according to benchmarks of the just released laptop.

A blurb:

asus is releasing their zephyurus g14 with a 4900hs and rtx 2060 for $1500. that's insane performance for the price, just hope its got the cooling to back it up

Ohh amazon with the surprise delivery. Mobo and SSD came today. Wasn’t supposed to arrive for another week. Just need the RAM and the build will begin. Probably will do a Linux build until I can get a key from my IT guy at work for Windows.

Better solution.

Build machine, install and activate Windows 7.

Perform a Windows 7 to 10 upgrade.

Verify that upgraded Windows 10 is activated. Let the fingerprint be registered with micro sauce.

Nuke OS drives and install Windows 10 clean and enjoy your free key.

i know the 7th gen (and newer) intel cpu and ryzen both aren't supported by windows 7.

hit ebay and buy a windows 10 pro key for a few dollars. the origin of the key might be sketchy but its worked out fine for me so far
just because it isnt supported, you should still be able to install on them

yeah this is why I’ll just run a Linux OS for now. It’s only going to be used to play Modded Minecraft on a server right now and general web surfing and videos and shit. Minecraft plays great on Linux.

And there it is. RTX Super chips for laptops.

The two Super models offer the same core configuration as the desktop parts, so 3072 CUDA cores for the RTX 2080 Super up from 2944 in the non-Super model, and 2560 for the RTX 2070 Super up from 2304. However, while the desktop variants also pushed up clock speeds in addition to adding more cores, we’re seeing the opposite with the Super line-up on laptops: cores have increased, but clocks have decreased slightly to fit within the same power envelope.

Take the RTX 2070 Super, for example, we have 256 more CUDA cores but these will be clocked at a maximum boost of 1380 MHz in the 115W variant, down from 1455 MHz with the non-Super SKU also at 115W. The memory system remains the same: 8 GB of GDDR6 providing 448 GB/s of bandwidth; the RTX 2080 Super doesn’t get faster memory like the desktop card, either.

Yup. MSI just announced their GS66. All black version of the GS65 with a 10th gen/2060 for cheaper (1599) than what the 9th gen/1660ti cost (1699).

yup.. its up and running on Windows. Tossed in the 10 disk and used an the old windows 7 key from the computer it replaced and it seemed to all work.
Did that on a friend's desktop. Skipped the Win7 install and used the Win 10 Media Creation tool on USB. Much faster. When asked for a key we used his Win7 and it worked fine. The only questionable part is that he did try numerous times to upgrade his Win7 to Win10 using the online update and it would continually fail, usually with a driver issue. So he never got 10 to install, so I don't think MS ever fingerprinted his CPU.

Another friend is going to try the same route this weekend. He acquired a laptop with SEE on the drive which he can't use, so he's going to swap in a fresh m.2 and run the Win10 Media Creation tool with his Win7 Pro key. Should work.

FUCK that's enticing. I like that MSI got rid of the gold trim around the chassis and logo, looks so much better.

99.9 Whr battery too. Damn
