Would anyone be interested in cruising down to visit the Pontiac Oakland museum in Pontiac IL? Its of the things MFBA wanted to plan for later in the year so the weather is nicer. But if we wait much longer there won't be nice weather to cruise with the cars.

Our local Pontiac Fiero club has set up a Fall Tour to go there on October 15th. We will be driving the famous Route 66 to Pontiac, Illinois. Our ultimate destination is the all-new Pontiac-Oakland Auto Museum. On the way we will see some of the old sites and towns that made Route 66 "The Mother Road". If anyone or a group wants to cruise down with us, let me know.

If you don't mind a bunch of F-bodies hopping inline I could certainly see a joint effort. This is something MFBA wanted to due opening weekend but the weather sucked opening weekend and it was HOT.

Where are you starting your cruise on Rt 66 down to Pontiac IL? I see you are in Schaumburg so it can't be that far away from most of us.

I'm trying to get a 6spd swap done on my GTA, still doing an inventory of parts to make sure I've got everything I need (even down to bolts and misc. crap.)

Already got all the major bits.

Our tour will originate in the parking lot of the Cheddar’s Restaurant in Bolingbrook at the Northwest corner of the intersection of I-55 and Route 53. We will be leaving from Cheddar’s parking lot at 10:00 am sharp, so please begin arriving at 9:30 am. We will then travel south on I-55. After we pass Joliet, we will cut over to Route 66 and travel past the Route 66 Speedway. From there we will travel South down the "Mother Road" though old farm towns, ghost towns and if you look closely, you will be able to see the original Route 66 pavement from the 1930s that is being preserved.

We picked that spot for starting because we have a lot of members spread throughout the Chicagoland area and it was centrally located for everyone.

i live in one of those farm towns along the way, i suggest stopping at The Launching Pad in
Wilmington and seeing "The Gemini Giant". I dont however recommend eating their food. Polk a Dot in Braidwood where I live has much better food and is just a much cooler restaurant, its set up just like a 50's drive in.

A 50's drive in could be cool as hell.

Greetings from Pontiac, IL

Hi Everyone!
I received a Google alert regarding your plans to travel to Pontiac to see our newest attraction, the wonderful Pontiac Oakland Automobile Museum here on October 15th. I'd love to have parking reserved, and goodie bags for each car ready upon your arrival. We also have 3 other free museums (Rt 66, War Museum, Walldog Art Museum) all within walking distance of the POAM. If your interested give me a call and we'll set it up. Thanks!

Anyone who wants to go can join in. We just need to know how many folks the week before so we can give them a count for parking and goody bags.

Well it is suppose to be low 60's and sunny next Saturday. Our club is all set to go. We have 10-12 cars going. If anyone is interested, I need a count by Sunday night so we can reserve you a parking spot and a goodie bag.

Are we meeting at the Cheddars or at the Clam Jumper in Lombard per the Fiero website?

Edit: Nevermind the home page says Lombard, but the event page says Cheddars.
