Any small Ford car from when they had partial ownership of Mazda.

Mazda3 -> Focus
Mazda 2 - > Fiesta
Mazda 323 -> ford tracer/escort/contour
Nissan Quest -> Mercury Villager (Changed the VG30 engine to be non interference and ended up having to replace a bunch due to oiling issues)

The Contour was based off of the Mondeo Chassis which I believe came from Euro Ford. You may be thinking Tempo/Topaz although I'm not certain. That said it brings up the point of the Jaguar X-type which was basically a Contour/Mystique which was heavily modified. I think the Mondeo chassis was even used for some Land Rovers or something silly like that.

You are right, not sure why I always lump the contour in with the escort.

Jesus, badge engineered cars...

The worst had to be the Trailblazer, as GM threw it at nearly EVERY one of their divisions, plus Isuzu. There were Chevy, GMC, Oldsmobile, Buick, Saab, and Isuzu

Also remember the Chrysler K Car was basically the same chassis for every single car, with some badge changes.

Volvo and Ford has a really weird and long history of parts bin sharing...

The AWD system (Haldex system) and chassis that currently underpins the Taurus, Explorer, Flex, etc started life as a late 90's Volvo S60/80. Ford bought Volvo and has used the chassis ever since.

The Fiat 124 sedan, first introduced in 1966

1920px-Fiat124Luc106.jpg

Was licensed ALL over the world...most famously as the Lada Riva/VAZ-2101 (Lada 1200), VAZ-2103 (Lada 1500), VAZ-2105 / VAZ-2107 which was produced up through 2012...the Fiat 124 and it's direct variants sold 14 MILLION units over its lifetime, and is the star of every Russian dashcam video

Firefox crashed, and I lost the post I was writing about the Lotus Elan being sold as a Kia Elan.

Also the Lotus Elise chassis has been used for a number of sports cars...the original Tesla Roadster, Hennessy Venom (technically an Exige but it's just a strengthened Elise chassis), and the Vauxhall VX220/Opel Speedster

The other day, I was looking at Lada's in the US, but they are all so expensive...I have a weird fascination and would love to build some ridiculous project based on a Lada
Same for no reason. Can’t find this dudes account anymore, tried searching old shit I’ve sent people and seems like he’s gone.

They remind me of old Datsun 210’s. I can save this shit for another thread though.

My Volvo has a Yamaha Engine. Oddly one that's used in a super car too (heavily modified of course) which is kind of amusing.

My favorite "Parts Bin Specials" were the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice.

Minus the Sheet metal, almost every single component on both cars were from some other model within GM's lineup.

From the Pontiac Solstice:

Front fog lamps: Grand Prix
Rear Back-up Lamps: Envoy/Trailblazer
Seats: Shared with Opel (maybe just the frame?)
Outside Rear View Mirrors: Fiat Barchetta
Interior AC vents: Lotus Elise or Alfa 156/Fiat
Brakes/Rotors: ION Redline/Malibu Maxx/G6
Engine: Chevy Cobalt (2.4l), Uplevel F/I is new, no known sharing yet,
Transmission: Aisin 5 spd manual, adapted from Chevy Colorado
Differential: Cadillac CTS
Door Handles: Chevy Cobalt
Gage Cluster: Chevy Cobalt
HVAC Controls Hummer H3 (suspect)
mirror - Firebird/Camaro/assorted GM products
hood hinge - Vette
