Did not know about this. Not bad.
It’s literally just badges and wheels (presumably interior). Looks like LED tail lights too. China didn’t get a v8 though :rofl:

So I'm wondering if that was the story with some shop vehicles that were donated to my high school auto class. There was this same truck with a 454 with 15 miles on it. Donated from gm.

Also gm donated a 93 lt1 with 25 miles on it. My teacher called me 5 years ago to see if I wanted to buy it but there's no Vin so it woulda been useless.

Hmmm.. Gmmm
Fuckin GM nut huggers always talking in rpo codes

I mean, ANYTHING GM from the early 70's up until the 90's is plain and simple answer here.

The epitome was probably by the mid 80's;

Chevrolet Monte Carlo;

Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2-door;

Buick Regal;

Pontiac Grand Prix;

Same car underneath, slight variation in engine options, but basically it was "change some trim, slap different front and end caps on them, send them out the door... No one will catch this..."

Other examples from that era;
- Chevy Caprice/Impala, Pontiac Bonneville/Parisenne/Catalina, Buick LeSabre/Electra/Park Avenues in RWD layouts then in 1987 with the flip to FWD, the Bonneville, 88/98, Lesabre's

- Chevrolet Celebrity, Pontiac 6000, Buick Century, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

- Chevrolet Cavalier, Pontiac J2000/Sunbird/Sunfire, Oldsmobile Omega, Cadillac Cimmarron

- Pontiac Grand Am, Buick Somerset Regal, Oldsmobile Calais

The saabaru was always rad. Now no thanks. I remember being at the body shop and the owner suggesting a Wrx front end swap on a kids saabaru because literally parts no longer existed. They made soooo few.

when saab went under i was at the body shop and we had 3 saabs in at the time... their owners were basically out their cars... one "needed" a frame rail and the bodyshop owner wound up buying it and hobbling it back together.

cmntmxr57 you're kinda just posting different flavors of the same vehicles... which i guess this thread kinda got into but we all know tahoes and yukons were the same.

i originally started it down the path of DEEZUZ having a 2019 silverado which to me, is a 2018.

Which is what I've always considered them to be "parts-bin". Same parts, different badge. Yes, the SUV's are guilty of this too, really all generations, especially from GMT400 up. I remember with my 2500HD, removing all the cheap looking Chevrolet GMT800 bits and putting Yukon Denali parts in, like Dash trim, door trim pieces, etc... Heck, when looking for parts for the Suburban, I could make it an Escalade. :D I DO actually have a Yukon instrument cluster for it that I could quickly pop in.

Any small Ford car from when they had partial ownership of Mazda.

Mazda3 -> Focus
Mazda 2 - > Fiesta
Mazda 323 -> ford tracer/escort/contour
Nissan Quest -> Mercury Villager (Changed the VG30 engine to be non interference and ended up having to replace a bunch due to oiling issues)
