Latest issue: Trunk will not close.

The latch seems to work properly pushing it down, all buttons work, emergency opener works, just does not lock down when you close it. Everything I read online points to electrical wiring. Can't even get it to lock down even with the key.
Yup, you'll find about 4-6 wires completely chewed through. Just repair it.

PANDA isn't about to repair a wiring harness on a BMW. Might be off to the shop it goes.

I didn't see anything blatantly wrong with the harness going into the right truck support either. I was fucking with this thing for like 45 min in a parking lot yesterday.
They're going to charge you 3-5 hours for it and have it fixed in 30 minutes. Take it apart further and just do it yourself.

This ended up being the trunk latch getting loose and falling out of alignment.

Well... I figured this day was coming as when I bought the car Highgate during inspection said "you might need to replace the brake lines in a few years." Went to Discount tire Friday morning to get my snow tires dismounted and "summers" installed. Went home, took the car for some errands late afternoon, and came home to find a small leak on the garage floor. Wasnt up near the motor, but near the driver's rear door area. Kinda looked like clean motor oil, and didn't look or smell like trans fluid, and was not gas. The brakes felt fine and I drove it around for probably an hour before I got home. I assumed the worst and figured my brake lines were rusty and started leaking. The car seemed to drive fine and the pedal had a firm feel so I drove the car to the nearest mechanic I deal with which was under a mile away, all slow residential streets. Sure enough, the rear brake line in front of the driver-side rear tire was leaking when you push down the brake pedal. It was pretty obvious there was a spot that wasn't very protected from the protective under-cladding and could easily rust from the salt. Guess I was lucky I engine brake alot and I noticed the leak, once the fluid ran out I probably wouldn't have any brakes. I kinda think the morons at Discount lifted the car in the wrong spot, but I have no way of proving that.

We will see what this costs me. It looks like you just remove the fender plastics in the wheel well to get access to replace the rear lines. Might be more involved on the passenger side.

I am not really sure. I assume one goes to the driver's rear wheel and the other passenger's. Maybe it was replaced before?

Since the lines run down the driverside to the rear if the non-rusty line runs to the passenger side and it's much more involved to replace like you have to remove the gas tank or something I might pass on that. But my guess is the shop will want to replace both due to liability.
