Probably not an option because import but just throwing it out there.

Lexus GX470 (6500 lbs) /Older toyota sequoias (6500 before 2008, 10k after that year) is what a couple of track people use for their race cars on open trailers. You are going to be high mileage (150-200k) but I have seen the same ones towing for 4-5 years now to events.

Just throwing an example here. If it were me I would be shopping further south where it hasn't seen salt.

Everything cheap enough for your budget is either going to get shit gas mileage or be pretty rough for a daily
Mileage isn't that big of a concern, I just brought it up because I am already used to substandard MPG.

Been hit like 6 times in last 5 years, 4 of the people didn't even stop. Not really shopping for anything too nice

Not necessarily. If you look away from the city, there is still good value out there.

There are 3 F250 super duty I have bookmarked for under $10k. They have mileage, but appear to be well kept. Just hesitant as I've never owned a diesel

id just be nervous about a sub 10k ferd diesel cuz if it needs front end work it's bend over it's going in raw and then anything diesel related engine wise gets fucking so expensive tooo

South of Wisconsin.
Well mpg doesn’t matter. I’d buy this if I had to tow, or had any reason to do so, or money to do so.. sure it probably gets 8mpg but this, just as it is, lowered a bunch. Yesss please.

The toyota 4.7 and 5.7's are thirsty. The coyote fords with better transmissions will beat the toyota numbers for sure.

I forgot to mention that there are at least 1-2 of these in wagon form towing lightweight race cars to events. Small inflatable mattress in the rear for the overnight stay.

If it's a 6.0 power stroke just look at somethin else unless you like continually dumping money into it.

Panther you say? Possibly
Except b body wagons are rated for 5k lbs and panthers are like 2k. I posted the sedan because it’s funny.

any diesel this price range someone would potentially want to own would be "continually dumping money into it"

fiteme
Accurate. Maybe a 7.3 but you'd still probably have to deal with the hpop and no power without putting some into it.

Old idi intercooled on 12 psi will tug a tree stump out of the ground.

Not that I have experience with them but, the ones that have head studs and emissions bypassed are still problematic?? I've read those were the two biggest concerns.
That's a @deezus question really but yeah the heads are the biggest thing I know of and even when "bulletproofed" shit still breaks. I think there's somethin with the egr and a cooler involved too but mostly I just know that you can make good power and they sound awesome but they're a pain in the dick to keep up.
