Um, have a vet take a look at him, cause I think he's a Norwegian Forest Cat. They're supposed to be a little on the large side. If, he is, get a good cat brush as you'll want to use it frequently to keep his coat from tangling. My mom had one, which made it to 19 before having to be put to sleep this past March. Had bad arthritis in her hips, and succumbed to renal failure (kidney disease). But she was a great and faithful companion the whole time.We adopted a Cat. His name is Mr B. 12 yo fluffy black cat. Dunno much about cats. A friend of my wife got a new job in an another country and they can’t bring any pets. So far he is cool. Likes to play. Doesn’t like to jump and sucks at it. He is overweight and will be feeding him controlled amounts instead of free feeding him. He is in good shape for an old guy.

Vet paperwork from the previous owner said he was a little on the heavy side. That was only a month ago. We are just going to watch how much he eats for the time being but not fill a giant bowl like the previous owners did. He came from a house that had 2 small crazy pugs so having 2 larger mostly chill dogs so that will be a big change. My wife is finding out the breed from the previous owner so we know more.Um, have a vet take a look at him, cause I think he's a Norwegian Forest Cat. Whichever food you go with, make sure it has low protein content, which will help keep the weight off. Plus, as a "senior", the protein is harder on them. Any senior diet food will follow that rule. I've had very good success with the Hills Science Diet (all of their different age levels (Kitten, Adult, Senior)). If you have to transition him to a different food, just do it slowly, mix in a little of the new stuff at first, then gradually increase it till it is all he is eating.Vet paperwork from the previous owner said he was a little on the heavy side. that is 100% incorrectAlso, don't feed him dry food.
Ever.
Wet food only.
Dry food is extremely bad for a cat's diet and will cause kidney failure, weight gain and other maladies.
that is 100% incorrect
The big benefit to wet wood is water intake. You don't get that with dry. Leave plenty of water out, isn't an issue.
