Culvers is a decent burger but sometimes it's just waaaayyyy too greasy for me. Sonic is also a solid burger. I can get down with some Red Robin too.

Bulldogs in Wauconda was the best burger place in IL for like 2-2.5 years then when down the shitter quick.
I had Bulldogs about 6 or 7 years ago and thought it was very good. Has it since gone down hill? New owners or something?

My two favorites. Redamaks. What sets them apart is they melt real velveeta cheese on it.

The other place is good ol Maxwell street. But the one on 31st only, right by Sox park. Get a double, just two thin patties, grilled onions and mustard. While your here though, order a polish it’s the best.

Idk about others but I can’t do raw onion on a burger. Fuckin overwhelms the whole thing.

Have to disagree with Redamak’s. Decent at best

Same owners but the story I heard is they opened up a location in Grayslake and then an Irish Pub in Wauconda. With the owners stepping away and focusing on the other locations they cut cost in Wauconda and the quality control went to shit. Business went down, they streamlined the menu and never quite got back to what they were. The location in Grayslake was sold and renamed, not sure if the pub is still there.

If you like the deep fried breaded cheese curds, I've been getting these from FGS (Gordon Food Service)

Brew City Cheddar Pints. They come in like 2-3 lbs bag for like $12 or $13. I don't have any kind of a fryer, so I nuke them for 3 minutes at 30% power to get them to room temp, then toaster oven for about 10 minutes, then devour.

Edit: GFS also has some decent house branded breaded cheese sticks and breaded mac/cheese bites. Shit, they have a LOT of appetizers to chose from.

They started a McHenry one also but ditched it quick as well.

Small Cheval and the fries with garlic aioli is the best burger "meal" you can get quickly/fast casual in America, willing to get into a brawl over that

Au Cheval
Loyalist
Maple and Ash (downstairs bar)

All fantastic burgers, but sit down type places and well worth it.

Honorable mention for me for Shake Shack and Portillos, the steak burger at J Alexanders too lol

Considering how many burgers I eat, I have a hard time compiling a list of good spots. :D

Scooby's in WeGo at North and Prince Crossing (right in front of the old Cascade theater) is always solid... But gets expensive
I just rolled past there not an hour ago.

I'm in Carol Stream near Lies/County Farm. I've ridden the paved path down Lies to Fiar Oaks, then St Charles Rd. Then along the river to the GWT to Prince Crossing and north to Scooby's just to get hot dogs or burgers, then ride home. Yes, I know could just take STC road to Prince Crossing and cross North, but I need the extra distance to burn off all the fries with cheese that I consume. ?

I did one ride along that same route, but caught the PP into Elgin and rode all the way past I-90. Was dead and hungry on the way back. Stopped at Scooby's to fuel up, thereby completely negating any calories or fat I might have just burned in the previous three hours. So worth it.

Crusade Burger in Yorkville is one of my favorites. The original Country House in Clarendon Hills has a solid burger. Pierces Tavern in Downers Grove has really great burgers and one of the best bourbon old fashioned around. I had a few there this weekend.

Crusade is really good. I live about 5 mins away from there, though we don't go there that often.

I used to love Back Alley Burger, they had 2 locations and both closed a few years ago. Was hands down my favorite burger place.

Don't sleep on Five Guy's burgers or Portillos. Both have really good burgers.

Damn, now I'm hungry.

I went through there this morning (usually every morning as I swing by the other house after I drop the kids off at school). So I was at Prince Crossing/North about 8:30 this morning.

Yea, hackney's is a good place. One of the few places like Country House in Geneva that will do it on Rye bread. And with that said, if I can include places outside Chicago, I gotta throw in Redcoat Tavern in Royal Oak, MI, right on Woodward, that I also make sure to hit up every time I go to Detroit.
