this was one of my frustrations in mexico city, i'd be paying a premium for a burger and some were even real lookers. but the patty itself was disappointing af a lot of the time.I think Kumas gained attention because it piled so many different things on the burger. That is cool and all. But when you talk about the best burger, it should be based upon the basics. Things like the bun, patty, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mustard. Let the patty and cooking technique be what they are judged on.
I love a burger with a ton of stuff piled on it. But 90% of the time you are enjoying what was added to the basic burger. Not the burger itself. The same goes for the experience of the burger. When you go to Billy Goat Tavern, enjoy a burger, and think of its history and basis for the classic SNL skit. It adds to the burger. Just as all the stuff piled on it at other places. Billy Goat burger is great but it isn't anything too special itself.
Alright, when googling I feel like the place in Spring Grove is not the right place or is it??There we go. The Grove in December!
can tell ya that you've now put some expectations in my head for this spring grove burger and there is a 100% chance i'll be trying it
I definitely didn't read the thread...grew up 5 minutes down the road and never knew spring grove had a decent burger jointAlright, when googling I feel like the place in Spring Grove is not the right place or is it??
they both sound good. you will be judged
it's just a good burger 8 minutes from my house mr burger worldwide.
it likely won't make your top 100 but i like it and it's proximity is key.
the pic i posted was the bootlegger.
my wife had the diablo burger and it had some thunder.

Hit up The Grove in Spring Grove today after we chopped our tree down at Richardson’s. I went with “the Grove” burger. Overall it’s a very solid burger. View attachment 186792
Why does the top bun have so much bread and the bottom is basically non-existent?Hit up The Grove in Spring Grove today after we chopped our tree down at Richardson’s. I went with “the Grove” burger. Overall it’s a very solid burger. View attachment 186792
There's some serious weight on that bun!Why does the top bun have so much bread and the bottom is basically non-existent?

i had the royal burger with tots, their menu on their website is different than the one they actually have there. i haven't had tots since this time last year at another place i tried a burger (jexal's in mchenry). it was decent, think the tots and burger both needed more salt (if they got any) though. i'd try a different burger upon return for some more excitement, i wanted more standard ingredients on a first burger there to try. it was ok, i'd go back, but i'm not in a rush too and it's not like a place i would need to run to again before i leave. last visit to my p's i tried jexal's and dc cobb's on green street in mchenry, this is totally by memory and a sample size of 1 at each but i might have liked jexal's the most, although wouldn't say there is any burger i've had close to my p's where i crave or look forward to a return visit.
