I use a $15 WiFi dongle for the iPhone and an app called Car Scanner that has a data recording function (although I’ve never used it) and also displays live data in large gauges and dials. The only thing I miss from my Android phone is the Torque app, which was awesome. There’s not an iPhone scanner app as good as Torque on Android.

I’ve got both a Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth dongle. The use it with (iOS) Dash Command and Car Scanner.

Dash Command was $10 but I like it a lot. The Car Scanner was free.

The Bluetooth adapter is kind of flaky but I got it so I could still use the data connection on the phone while driving. If I use the Wi-Fi dongle the phone routes all internet requests through the Wi-Fi and nothing works, since it’s going to the dongle.

Here is the free one.
