It's about time.

Seems like I've been waiting for these cards forever.
The 3000 series was unobtainable for years and now that they've finally come down in price, the new 4000's are coming out.

I need to upgrade my 7 year old GTX 1080.
I just bought the 3080 the other day to replace the gtx 1070 I've been using in my desktop that I built last year. Originally had a 3080ti but that was a faulty one.

I really am on the fence about this 3070.

2 years ago I would have ran right away. Now, I havent even booted my gaming PC up since I still dont have a place to set it up yet.

I'd wait. I bet it hits under $500. Search 3070 om MC, they have over 100+ different 3070s and 3070ti available. Thats a shit load of graphics cards. Even at the sale prices, they havent really been selling or going down in stock.

8 Gigs is NOT enough. Even a game like Doom Eternal which is supremely optimized will fill that VRAM with the textures filled up. 10GB minimum.

And with a 3070 you will be able to turn every option to the max so you will run out of texture memory.

I really wish that part of the RTX thing could be enabling true HDR on titles that didn't originally support it.

Remedy's Control would look AMAZING in HDR. And HDR makes a far larger difference in image quality than 4k does.

If I had to choose between HDR or 4k? I'd be choosing HDR.

Depends on the screen size too. 1080p HDR on a 60" screen would be worse then 4k on a 60" IMO.

Just can't beat the pixel count advantage at those sizes

100%

AIBs and retailers are going to feel this for a while. No one is buying at half the price like they were at the peak.

Especially with the current economy. Unless you are cushy, nobody is buying extra stuff because EVERYTHING that is a need, is 20-30% more now minimum.

All the shit that are wants, is going on sale or clearance. the big boys, like walmart, are building additions to their stores to house the product so they dont eat their asses on it.
