Alright guys, I'm sure most of you know this car by now, and rather than bring up old threads full of nonsense I'd rather start fresh and reintroduce it now that we've both got our ish back together and straightened out and truth be told I miss staying updated on you guys builds, there's some way cooler stuff than mine to learn from here.

Since I last had it posted I realized how far down the hole I'd gone with this thing no thanks to the help of some prescription meds I thankfully realized we're causing some issues. I apologize, now that I got that squared away and cleaned up and started back at a pretty decent new job, I've been pickin at her a little bit as time permits and have it running pretty awesome for what it is and for as odd a build as it is I figure there should still at least be some contribution to the forum as I owe you guys alot of thanks for the help getting it to this point.

Boosted 3.8 series 2 fbody basically a camarobird if you will, as i jacked a bunch of parts including most of the interior for it from the same Gen firebird I plan to nitrous ls at some point.

Y87 package m5 3.23 posi

Cartuning fbody hotside with ebay t70 and precision 39mm gate set close to 10 psi depending on da as I've got a broken exhaust stud and I think my China bov may be causing some issues as well. Could be 9.6 during the day and hit 10.4 at night but I could be getting some creep on the spring too. Time and screwing with it more will tell I'm sure.

Deka 60s soon to be 80s as startups have been a pain for me when making the switch to corn and so far I've found that i need to clear out alot of adder tables to clear up some other annoyances I have with the zzp tune I went off of and adjusting the injector rates seems to be the best route. Stock fuel pump until I have time to get the 450 in and I don't really want to cut a hole in a mostly clean mostly rust free other than just starting on the bottom, leak free pretty decent car.

Runs out strong and steady on e10 pump gas to about 15⁰ at 11.5 afr at 5500 da without more than a hint of kr to let you know the sensors are still working now. Idles starts and cruises as well as it did brand new other than the typical fbody rattles. Injectors show a Lil under 70% and if I had to guess I would say right around 270 or 280 at the rear wheels. I know the cartuning kit stock was rated at 280 rwhp but I believe it was a bit smaller turbo and I'm not sure what size spring came in the gate. The last pull i put on it with this tune up but a little fatter was 260ish and that's when it went 101 with alot of spin so I feel the roller calibration to be fairly accurate. That was around 8.5 psi with some major hotside leaks.

Plan to put in 1.9 modded stock rockers and comp 105 springs to let it breathe a little better but want to stay stock cam for the torque side of things and idle characteristics as I have been cruising it around at this point because its fun as hell to drive and have about 300 miles on its current state including a 2 hour drive without any major issues other than blowing a cheap ic boot apart and it likes to sweat a little horsepower wherever it parks.

Super fun car to drive and bounce off the limiter but doing so has already torn somethin loose underneath, I'm assuming a Trans mount bushing or the torque arm bushing from advice from my mechanic guru friend at work as it likes to float the shifter in 1st and 3rd pretty good now so I haven't been too hard on it since that started. Also haven't had time and ambition to crawl under it and see whats going on either. At any rate I've got a few suspension parts laying around and what I don't have I'll take from the other car as I eventually still plan on putting the 60e and the 3.42 rear in this so it'll actually hook from a dig and hopefully not break things.


Hoping she's still welcome here as she really is a blast for a slow v6 and I know how tcg loves a rwd 3800, if not I admittedly was a mess building this thing and apologize again for my prior threads being so chaotic. Couple current pics if you guys haven't seen how the cartuning kit is setup up for the fbody, I know there weren't alot of them made mostly due to the success of an ls swap to make real power and they're a massive improvement over the horrible ebay hotside setup. Rather booger tig somethin together with vbands and elbows than ever deal with that garbage again. Someday I'll have a nice turbo and a different set of heads on it to make it worthy of them.

Thanks man. Maybe it's not as fast as some things but I sure have taken to the thing. My kids asked me everyday if it was finished yet but I spent most of the time cleaning up around here and takin care of things before life started to suck. Finally got a good day to work on it and haven't driven the truck since. And after a full time gig and their stuff I'm pretty beat at the end of the day.

I'm thankful to get a real job that should keep the lights on and help make these roller payments tho. I'm cool with having to grind a few years to have a badass double roller in my garage out in the country tho. Be worth keeping my license to make it to work and I'm pretty handy at cleaning up work trucks anyway. If anybody has a thing for tuning diesels or could point me in the right direction to learn that'd probably help with that alot more tho. I haven't done much digging into it yet but it's on my list of things to learn.

Any thoughts on exhaust size here guys. I already hacked the intake I bought from my truck to make the air filter angle and need to get it further down in the bumper as the radiator fans are filling it with hot air. But that aside I didn't hate the way it sounded on 2.5 flex pipe all the way back to the zzp Polaris resonator on the ebay pipes. Nice mellow tone as opposed to right now I've got a truck muffler clamped on the end of the 3 inch downpipe. And while it's deeper and I like that, at minimum it needs to make it out the back, it drones like crazy and I really gotta watch it in town to stay out of trouble. And it'd be more ideal to actually use the 3 inch I've got for my truck and cut up that stock exhaust and use the 2.25 and 2.5 scraps I've got laying around for this unless it's going to hurt me hp wise. As a daily I just want a good tone and to be able to put up a decent fight with a v8 car from a stop light once in a while I don't expect this build to ever go past 400 or 450 wheel at most. The rest of the car already isn't real fond of what it puts out now and if I get that to the ground it'll be plenty fast as it is.

Also I think I'm done racing for the year due to priorities but I may hit a test n tune or somethin after I get the rear end tightened up just to see how it does. Goal is to make something nice here that I can enjoy not necessarily to try and break it all the time. Even if it looks alot cooler on cheater slicks.

A few of us are still planning on going to the street car night on September 11th. I'd like to get some runs in before then, but idk if it'll happen.
If you ever plan on bein around or just wanna make some pulls and do some dialing let me know. I've got alot left i wanna do to this thing but I'm really just happy to be driving it and not having issues

I'm not too sure that I'm going to do much with this car at least for a while. Need to focus on getting my tire business dug from the ashes and I'm undecided when it comes to starting a thread on that nonsense.

Im actually kicking around taking some of my better stuff back out of it and listing it to come up with some business capital. It's not like I don't have another rusty 4th Gen out back and another set of pipes I can slop together once I get to a place where I can afford to get an engine for it. Or there's the possibility of parting some things out and flippin it as a stock v6 or roller. Or selling the other car. I'm really up in the air but gettin the biz rolling again and keeping the house takes priority over all and I can always build another now that I have half an idea on what I'm doin.

and uh, maybe I wanna play with the 5.3 with the 243 heads in the truck for a while lol

Actually, no. No way I can sell it. In fact I think it needs to go for a drive with the tops off shortly. But I do have a bunch of stuff sittin around if you guys are needing anything.

Fbody drag pack just needs front tires, dhp tuner Ill never use, wet kit I'll probably just blow somethin up with, some injectors and fuel pump. If you guys want any of it let me know I'll figure a price and what the ride will cost before I hit the marketplace with it

Not one time. Was just screwing around and pulled a 103.3 off the trackaddict tho. Time said 16.4 but I think it started before I did. Seems right bout 270 wheel for how heavy it is at the moment and with 5200 da.

All I'm sayin is this things a blast even if it is just a v6, we took a pretty decent cruise around town and everywhere people are smiling and waving, actual fast cars pulling up at the stoplight with thumpy cams that could surely whip my ass but they still turn off soon as soon as they hear it spool a little.

Had to whip a Ford rangers ass cuz he kept on with it for a while and by the time we were heading home I started gettin a miss up top for whatever reason. No laptop on it as it's been pretty decent and not givin me a lick of trouble other than I think it bounces to TCS fueling alot due to a bad wheel speed sensor connection. At first I thought it was goin lean but I got out of town and played a little more and thankfully it's a miss. Im sure I just torched a wire or not having the ground on the icm or I could've fried a plug or somethin considering it idles and cruises just fine until you lay into it and it builds boost. Good thing I've got a bunch of coils and stuff layin around.

But for real tho, maybe I didn't build a race car. But this things still stupid fun and gets boatloads of attention for whatever reason.

I really think I may have the same dyno they do from what I've seen here and there on Facebook. I've been easin back into social media a little at a time I guess. What all did you have done? 380 would be a hoot in this thing and I'd definitely have to get that tranny situation sorted. Not that I'm not kicking that around everytime I feel the shifter push up and see v6buicks v6buicks putting in work on his build

Fun is all that matters.
This, keeping the bills paid, and keeping my kids happy, they had way more fun tearing around town for a bit than trying to get it to run a number any day.

My jobs pretty awesome to begin with once I get that rollin good again tho. Hard to beat bombin around the country fixin shit in a nice Chevy truck with the system cranked up all day every day. Add a nice ass dyno to that? Man I got it made long as the phone rings lol

Looking at the track addict run I never got completely stopped so it went from the point the button was pushed. I'm gonna say it was anywhere from a 13.8 to a 14.2 from where the speed started climbing which seems pretty reasonable to me for what it is
