We knew this was coming, it was just a matter of getting confirmation. According to Autocar, Nissan has suspended plans to create a compact, rear-wheel-drive successor to the Silvia (240sx) due to Nissan's financial difficulties and Carlos Ghosn's pledge to reduce costs.

The first indication that Nissan was working on a Silvia/240 replacement came in the form of the Foria concept that debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005. The Urge design study quickly followed and development of the RWD coupe continued over the following years. We talked to a Nissan exec back in August of 2008 and they were able to confirm that work was still underway, but wouldn't put an exact date on when it would be unveiled.

Another casualty of the financial crisis is the rumored and refuted GT-R-based sedan for Infiniti. Work on the Porsche Panamera fighter has been put on indefinite hold, but it hasn't been cancelled outright. Ghosn wants the automaker to focus its development efforts on producing small- and medium-sized cars, including a Toyota Prius competitor which could arrive as early as next year.

it wouldn't be that cheap here.

shipping, outfitting for emissions, switching to LHD, there's too much involved.. not to mention the vin swaps that would be required, i don't think they use 17-digit VIN overseas, IIRC it's NA that does.. Japan uses a 10-digit iirc.

its not 90...u can have get one new for like 78? lower if u want a slightly used one. if ure going strickly by looks, then obviously the r34 wins...performance, at least in stock trim, the r35 shits all over the 34..but in terms of raw potential, the RB motor has more than proven itself....tho i think we'll see 9s out of the r35 come this summer

oh and technically, the r34 isnt 34k since we never got it...its more like 50-100k if u want one in the states

freight costs are the least of your worries. the only car you can even bring over legally anymore is the r33, thanks motorex. there is no switching to LHD as its expensive and not required by US laws. no real vin "swap". the car is just issued a new vin number. aside from emissions, it needs new bumper supports, bracing in the doors and other safety modifications that brings it up to US spec..hell, the r32 had like no safety features. its fairly easy to get it registered in a state but its close to impossible to get it EPA approved w/o dumping some serious coin into the process

Once a vehicle is identified it is transported to a contract facility in Japan, where its interior and drive-train components (ie. engine, transmission, axles and fuel delivery systems) are professionally removed. Next the vehicle body is then transported to our Japanese based facility, where the renovation takes place. At this facility the body goes through a metamorphosis. All of its glazing, brake components, lighting equipment and personal restraint devices are either replaced or verified to be compliant with the stringent US DOT requirements.

The unibody then goes through the strengthening process, where structural modifications are made to the doors, floors, fenders and passenger restraint anchoring points. Next, exterior modifications are made to fit the required US DOT side marker lights and then the unibodies are refitted with their original interior components. Once the unibody kit passes a quality control inspection, then it’s finally fitted with new identifying badges, 17 character VIN plates (public and private display) and issued a Certificate of Origin.

Now apearing in Hanover Park
theres ways of owning any generation skyline as long as you're willing to accept the potential risk of losing your investment...ive almost done it twice

Word, buy a skyline from shady people/possibly from Canada(they were imported there more than here) buy a Nissan car, swap the vin over to the skyline, and make the donor car disappear
