I might have an opportunity to pick a 2006 Impala LTZ in good condition for well under blue book, but, the car has 100k on it. Everything works with no issues and was mechanic owned.

Whats your take on a newer car with 100k on it? :noes:

My opinion is this, the newer cars can probably go 200k without a hiccup, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised when something breaks.

do you know the owner ? what was the vehicle used for ? all highway miles ? stop and go traffic ?
was it a rental ?

vehicles should last as long as they are well maintained and not abused.

The car is 5 years old, that's 20K miles a year. Not horrible if you ask me, but yes more than the average 2006 car. I myself wouldn't be remotely interested in the car unless it was $6,000 or less. Even less that that if you were going to flip it.

I don't see a problem if it's cheap. Look on the bright side, when stuff breaks it'll be less rusty cause it's an 06

my 06 TBSS has over 100k on it now - i aint worried - my 04 srt4 has 75k - my wifes 03 WRX has 95k - and i just bought a 99 subaru forester with almost 160k on it - cars are built "better" these days IMO - only because i think it is almost standard that people drive a lot for work these days....

define newer.
Well whats the average? 12k/year? or is it 15k/year now? I would consider newer cars being 05+. Anything older than 2004 would be normally around 100k by now if regularly driven.

I'm having a similar dillema. Buying a car w/ 100k+ is scary, but not the end of the world.
I'm goin to look at a truck with 128k on it after work today. :noes:

Spoke to my brother-in-law about the car this past weekend. He had the car hooked up from factory and paid $54k for it. He told me a bunch of stuff but what I do remember is that the car has SS suspension, aftermarket exhaust and It has 4 different programs that the car adjusts depending on your driving style. City driving it gets 20-25 MPG's and the best it ran at the track was 12.8 IIRC. He said with the car having over 100k, he thinks itll run low 13's. I would get the car for $6500:dunno:
