New or low miles BBD & auto for work truck

Trans must be able to handle 12,000-14,000 lbs, prefer 4 spd auto, but no clue if they even make one for an old non-computer truck??
It has a carbed SBD with 727 now and it can't hack the weight.

Based on what I'm seeing looking on Wikipedia the last BBD made was in the late 70s. You'll probably have fun finding a good one much less paired with a 4spd auto. Ever considered a 6.8 V10 or a Magnum 5.9 if it's an earlier engine? With the latter I'd get a carbed intake and electric pump and go, with the former I'd see if the EFI tank swaps in to your truck.

Then again Cummins is an option too.

Truck is not worth doing a Cummings swap.
I'm looking into a stroker SBD now, and will probably stick with the 727.
