Got a new job that's gonna require a lot of traveling to chicago and decided I needed some type of commuter car that got better mpg's than both my V8's and allows me to keep the miles off of them. I was looking for something that was cheap, fuel efficient and "somewhat" fun so that I could at least make those hour long 5am commutes to chicago somewhat less miserable. Initially I was set on a GTI, and had found a MKV 6 speed that I thought was a 1 owner car in pristine condition. Well, let's just say that wasn't the case and the VW dealer that tried to sell me that car can go to hell! Then later that same day I found another car in Rockford and sure as shit had the same thing happen again but this time even worse. (unbelievable people will play you as stupid and knowingly try to sell you a car that was in a wreck)

So after striking out twice I stumbled upon this 1999 MB SLK 230 with 64k miles 5 speed by accident while still in rockford. This is not a car I would have even considered but it sorta has a special place in my heart, I remeber as a teenager seeing the retractable hardtop on one of these cars in the early 2000's and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Best yet is the seller was willing to take $5,500 and at that price I couldn't say no!

Also shout out to Dan00Hawk Dan00Hawk for running the VIN for me!

Looks like it is in good shape from the photos, nice pickup
I'd give it an 8/10. The biggest problem is with the interior, (I purposely avoided showing it in the picture) but the paint is really pealing off the arm rests and the console area. But I've seen some DIYs of people who stripped all these panels and repainted them for under $100 over a weekend. I plan on doing this over the winter

290 to Sacramento, run Sacramento down to 26th (by the jail). Bust a left go to Western and bust a right
I did go that way once! Another of lights but empty roads and mostly greens at that hour IIRC

On another note, just switched back from iPhone to an android again and am really let down by Google maps. Now it defaults to some BS "most fuel efficient route" instead of shortest.
