I've used 3 different Neuspeed Power Modules on 2 of my wife's Beetles, and 1 on my '14 Jetta. They are kind of a step below a full Stage 1 tune. It either makes you want more easy power from a full tune, or keeps you in check by maintaining the powertrain warranty. It's a perfect type of unit for my wife's VW, for example.

The other nice thing is that you can typically resell it used for the same price you paid for it used. This one I bought new since there weren't any used ones when I was looking for it.

Still got it, in case blue-sun ends up finding some spare change in his couch cushions once he has his wheel situation sorted out.

It's plug and play. You'll have to get her to start using premium gasoline on a regular basis, as it's designed to be used with at least 91 octane. I put a sticker inside the fuel door to remind the Missus to use Premium every fill up. I ran it on the race gas 100 Octane setting for months with just 93 Premium on our Beetle with no adverse effects besides more noticeable wheel spin.
