However, I'm going to guess that utilizing profits from the side biz are paying for this, and this is exactly what you were hoping to do.

More power to ya, time with the fam > fucking with this bullshit.

Except for the skid steer with a grinder, that sounds like fun.

Homer Tree Service does great work and they have the big equipment to cut down large trees. They’re not cheap though from what I remember.

I forgot you moved to Homer. I moved a tad further south to Manhattan a couple years ago. Not many members down here in the sticks

Jennifer and I use Davey Tree. They cut down one of those huge trees in my yard that probably would have fallen in the river had someone less experienced taken it down. Also, a few large trees on her property that were in danger of falling on a house. Sometimes it's easier to pay someone who has the right equipment/skills. I've had projects that I could have easily done myself, but sometimes paying someone $300-$600 for something that would take you a few weeks in your spare time is worth it. My issue is removing the tree debris is time-consuming. I wish I had a log splitter and chipper.

You can also save money by just paying someone to take the tree down and not remove anything.

Hahaha how much was your fence qoute? I got one 3 years ago (during covid) and it was like 18k... I was like WTF..
Yeah, I was looking to do the back fence to a 6 foot privacy after the neighbors dog behind us attacked our dog through the fence, and the price was fucking insane for a 70 foot section of fence. Ended up putting a screen across the chain link and now were good because the dogs cant see each other anymore.

I use Family Tree. I think they're now in Warrenville, they literally used to be a couple blocks down the street from the other house... but their map says they service all Chicagoland.

They are by far cheaper than anyone else. I had Kramer Tree come out to quote trees to be removed. They were like $2,500 - $3k. Family came out, $1,300, including stump grinding. Since you may remember the yard when you were there last summer, this is one of the last ones they took down... A very tall pine.
