There will be a point where these cars get depleted in Japan.

Still sucks that the average Joe that had dreams of getting a R32, 33 or RX7, etc etc etc are getting fucked by the insane price gouging. But the market dictates what the market dictates.
Yeah I get it but on the bright side there are still many options out there for different budgets. Getting an r33 gtr for 50-60s. I think given the market that’s a very reasonable price albeit not the one everyone wants

So a quick update after talking to Doston. The gtr is in the body shop and will have the ztune hood on soon. The hood i ordered is still about a year out however Doston got one he ordered sooner so he’s putting it on my car. The LM GT4 wheels will be going on soon as well and then it will look pretty much like a nismo ztune car. This video is a pretty close representation of what my car will look like aesthetically. Well worth the watch.

Sticking with red?
Yeah same exact color just making it look brand new again as replacements can be bought from Nissan but they are pricey. These are another set that the body shop has done. the shop my car is at does work for Omori Factory if they need to outsource any body work.

Skylines are highly venerated in Japan (half Japanese comment).

So are the cars getting exported mainly because people will pay up for them or does it get hard to keep them on the street? Does Japan have a tough annual inspection?
Some dealers don’t want the cars to be sold to foreigners so they are selective on who they sell to. Others will sell them to foreigners or work with a broker on behalf of a foreign buyer as was my case. Just depends on the dealer. It’s funny because America is not the top buyer for these cars yet. I’d say more end up going to Australia, Dubai, Canada than to Americans (being stored as is mine). That demand will increase if the economy is there to support it after 2024.

As for keeping them on the street it is more strict in Japan. They have a program called Shaken that is a really involved inspection. If anything leaks, fails emissions, saftey equipment etc it will fail. It’s considered very expensive to keep older cars so there are fewer and fewer of them kept because those that own them know they can get a huge pay day selling something that is costly to keep and they are so use to these that to the people in Japan they don’t have the affinity like people around the world do for these cars.
