They are really just a band-aid for the track. I can't afford $700-800 for a track setup this season and I was going to be disappointed if this entire season, I was only in the 13's... Who knows, maybe beginning of next season, I buy a new track tire setup and unload these I currently have for $50. I'll eat $50 to get into the 12's this season.

I'll probably take you up on your test drive offer No 8.8 noises yet!

Trap seems slow to me too since I was pulling mid 13's at 110-111 last time at the track... And I'm running the most boost I'll run on a stock 2v. 8.5 psi

It was the diff that went on mine, but I can't speak for all fellow 2V's.

So throw a powertrax unit in for $500 and be on your way. I assume he's got steeper gears being a manual already right?

I want to say all GT's came with 3.27's regardless, but I'm not sure.

He would definitely have to replace the axles. When I upgraded to a stronger diff (31 spline), I had to get 31 spline axles.

haven't launched a car with a stick too often and 470 ft/lbs once boost hits is somewhat tough to rein back...

Yeah, I'm looking into ways to get a 1.7 60'

If you are going to open up the rear-end to do the diff, you might as well do the axles as well.

I thought the only way to beef up the diff was to switch to a 31+ spline diff? Then you would have to change the axles to match the 31+ spline. But maybe they just have upgraded/beefier 28 spline diffs for the Mustang. I was told to go with a 31 spline minimum. Plus, if you were going to pay good money for an upgraded 28, might as well put that money towards a 31 spline. 31 spline axles are not that expensive.

Yeah my point is why do one without the other. It would make no sense to do it that way. 31 spline and Eaton / thread.

I don't know. I don't want to touch the rear end this season if possible...

I'm keeping my eye out for a built rear or for the parts for cheap. Anyone have any leads?

I went the new route and it was about $1,400 for everything.

rear-end rebuild kit
new 3.73 gears
31 spline axles
eaton 31 spline diff

You could probably do it for considerably less with the used approach. I've heard you can use the diff from an F150.
