I just watched about a minute of you driving the car. Seems like the conversion went well and works as expected. Even better when it came to the shifter. If you want to smooth out the shifter action you can always add a weighted shift knob. In my experience, they work well. The heavier the smoother they feel. I have used a 125 gram to 485 gram knob and they all made a noticeable improvement. If after driving the car for a while you think the action isn't exactly what you are after.

Is the open diff next on the list of things to change? Is that a big deal or pretty basic swap?

I'll keep the weighted shift nob in mind. I have about 30 miles of driving so far. Drove a little this morning before work and the car just feels real solid. At low rpm in 3rd/4th gear you do hear some of the gear noise but I think i recall that being normal for a t56. I'll just keep my rpm up a little higher. I may try the weighted shifter but it's not annoying. Just something I noticed on my first impressions.

Some times fluids can help quiet down gear noise as well. Is it a rubber or poly trans mount? Poly may contribute to that as well.

The weighted knobs work. I know in some circles they are easy to come by used. A used one is nice to see if it is to your liking. Can't be any easier to install. lol

It will also be interesting to see how the turbo comes on. Between the gearing in the trans and rear end and how it loads differently than the auto. But I am sure it will be all kinds of fun to drive.

I got into boost a little bit this morning an man is it a totally different feel than the auto. RPM's climb up fast so I'll have to get use to that.

lol short shift for a while until you get accustomed to that rpm climbing so quickly. I can imagine the stock gearing in a 1990's era auto isn't very aggressive. Should make for a good time though!

I switched out the diff so whats in it now is a 4.27 while stock the auto came with a 3.76. Grannas said the sweet spot for these transmissions is 4.08 which i'm not that far off considering i'm on a 28" tire.

I've got a couple hundred miles on the car so far. With the 4.27 gears I sit at around 2200rpm at 70mph on the highway in 6th so I think i'm going to keep that gear ratio. I need to get my differential out to a shop to rebuild with new bearings and a spare 4.27 ring and pinion gearset I have. Then it's off to the dyno for a good tune and all that fun obnoxious antilag and rolling antilag stuff like they demonize on the news.

Small update, got my diff rebuilt by suburban driveline so I have a TRD LSD and 4.27 gearset in the car before it goes to SP for some tuning. I just need to put some gear oil in it and maybe another 100 miles of break in on the trans.

Nice job. Not too surprised on the T56 part. For some reason V161s seem to have gone through the roof. We all know that the only autos you really want in a Supra are GM anyways.

Well I still got to talk to Larry and see if he wants me to stick around and get it done today or if it’s not going to be done today I’ll head home. If he’s jumping on it first thing then I’ll be here for glorious videos and stuffs

I wish we were not short-handed at work today. I'm close by and would have swung by to say hi and see some runs.

Good luck with it!
