🔧 BUILD My junker Buick revival....

General Information

Doubt anybody cares but figured I had my cucv build here so why not. This is my first car when I was 16, it's a 1970 Buick gran sport. It was slightly less junk then but not by much. It got parked after the trans gave way as well as the brakes. It sat for many years outside and then a few years in a garage. I was finally able to go and get it last week.

The uncovering aka barn find status.

Emersonhart13 and I were able to get it on to the trailer (my brother helped)

Getting it off the trailer turned into a hell of a thing as well. A neighbor walking by was kind enough to help out.

Got her over to her spot so the wife can potentially park in the garage again

Got to work today on it. Checked the oil and threw a battery in it. Gave it a bit of spray and she fired right up. Steady oil pressure and a bit of an exhaust leak. Seemed to idle oh so nice for sitting for a good 8 years. RAN WHEN PARKED

Yep, leaking.

Wasn't done for the day. Decided that since the engine seemed all good for now, might as well get going on the trans.

The last couple I did I used the C3 master. You can get them with either side outlets. Makes brake lines easy. I would never thread the rod, but I like to not die so there is that. But really I would make sure the booster works and doesn't leak, most places wont take it as a core if it is modded. If it has to be threaded have a threaded coupler tigged on.

If you didn't move the motor or trans, look for a Chevelle driveshaft. You might be able to find a premade one fairly cheap. Getting them made can be way overpriced.
I had one made for my blazer locally in basically the same co figuration I need and it was about $500. I already have a sonnax 1350 slip yoke so should be cheaper. I need to still setup the rear and with new gears and yoke so just haven’t measured yet.

I'm happy to have found this thread. I love the black. Don't sell the car short. A real GS whether big block or not is not easy or cheap to find anymore. Besides, even rusty ones have more class and style than most cars on the road. I have a nice Buick 350 in my garage that I'd like to modernize one of these days, but it's pretty far down the list. Good luck!
