Mopar 62TE trans rebuild

So my wife’s van lost reverse a few weeks back. Good timing our tax return was coming and there’s an extra paycheck next month. Getting a rebuilt trans runs $3-4K (labor not included) High mileage used is $900 to 1k.

I got the hard parts and sensors for about $350ish. With fluids , tools, and extras should come in a little under $600. No way is this van worth enough to buy a rebuilt, so it’s going to suck...but I don’t want to buy another van.

Some pics so far, will get some pics of the case opened up tomorrow. Has to be done by Friday

Never done a front wheeler but done a few 700R4s. Keep everything super clean and there's a decent chance that you'll do all right. Then again the autos are why I'd never own a Chrysler either. A lot of people are intimidated by doing a trans that would have no issue doing an engine. They're not bad IME take your time.

I’ve done plenty of TH350’s...this doesn’t look too bad. The fluid was not burned, but lots of metal in it. Won’t know for sure until I crack it open, but pretty sure the low/reverse drum popped a seal.

Pulled the piston out of the low clutch drum..and I’m done for a few days. This I don’t have

Well almost 2 years in, and it threw the dreaded input shaft speed sensor code today. Could be a glitch, but it has the wife and I talking about getting a newer van. I hate this thing.

I physically can’t do the trans again. Just found out I have to get a stent this week because of a blockage. I’m not supposed to be doing anything physically right now.
