So I'm a little late to the game but we just got Netflix back. I started DD season 3 and was totally lost till I realized Defenders leads right up to it. So I decided to go back and watch defenders since I hadn't.
Deadline received a statement from Netflix saying, “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”
Daredevil is the third Marvel/Netflix collaboration to be canceled, leaving Punisher and Jessica Jones as the last remaining series on the streaming provider. Both have new seasons on the horizon: The Punisher will return sometime in early 2019, while Jessica Jones is currently in production. Coming off the heels of Luck Cage and Iron Fists' cancellation news, the future of the Marvel/Netflix universe doesn't look promising.
Last article I read said Disney and Netflix couldn't reach a deal on Deadpool... Whatever that means...I mean Disney owns the rights now so... I can't imagine they would not keep it going.
