Took few pictures early today. I really regret sleeping through the beginning. My tripod broke, 2 batteries dead...I thought that was it but 3rd was at 100% Anyways...here are some photos.

I had thought about setting up the telescope (1250mm equivalent, f/8) and the D800 to get some photos, but was tired as fuck and had a nasty headache from not sleeping all weekend. Actually, my 70-200 f/4 takes better photos than with the telescope. The scope is cheap, like $250 and the quality of the optics are barely "average".

If tripod wouldn't show me the finger, I'd probably get better focus. Fingers were pretty stiff lol
Get a solid tripod, aim for like $75-100. Look for one with an extendable hook on the bottom to hang weight(s). It'll keep the tripod more stable with less vibration, especially at really long focal lengths (mega zooms).

Yeah, let me take a look around and see what I can find. I have an Aukey that I got on sale from Amazon that does the things I mentioned. But it looks like Aukey and Amazon have had a falling out, and it's no longer available through them.

Quick look, something like this.. Has a ball head, collapsible, light weight, modular...
Thanks, much better than this piece of work ?‍♂️

Yes, tombstone WIP ?
That one is actually made for video cameras. The handle attached to the head allows the operator to keep the camera on the subject. My old tripod had that, and I actually liked it. Most new photo camera tripods won't have it, but have the ball head for easy rotation. You can get ones with a handle if you want to. I think some of the more quality ones come with both, that you can swap out. Hell, some even come with a gimbal head if you want to really get fancy.

As long as it's solid and stable, handle no handle doesn't matter but I kinda liked the handle haha
No reason you can’t get one without a handle. Some also come with multiple camera base attachments. So you can have one on multiple cameras and not have to move one back and forth. It uses the quick release base. Very nice to have, and not even a top-shelf feature anymore.
