Yet when you look at a 2014 F150 with a 5.0 suddenly it has 3k payload and can tow 13000lbs. Fucking okretard.

aren't those SUPER unique trucks though?

like extended wheelbase supercab long beds?

they look weird as fuck when i see one.
thing has to have a wheel base 3' longer than a raptor.

I also sort of pulled those numbers out of my ass but didn't. I just quickly glanced at Ford's brochure, page 26. https://cdn.dealereprocess.org/cdn/brochures/ford/2014-f150.pdf

TL;DR yeah it's a weirdly ordered truck specifically built to tow stupid weight and not indicative of 99% of real world scenarios to the average Joe 6pack.

yeah all the big three guys have em... ram/gm/ford/ all guilty.

BEST IN CLASS 38,000LB TOW RATING well to get there you need a 2wd ragular cab 178" chassis cab with 5.12 gears with the gas engine and special tire package. it's silly.

you have to remember diesel engine's significantly reduce payload capacities.

so i was dicking around looking at sprinters yesterday and they are super surprising how their towing capacities are listed.

so for example- we'll do my truck quick here-
2019 6.2/max trailer package Sierra -

GCWR: 17,800lbs
-Curb weight: 5,606lbs
Towing cap: 12,194lbs.

with no one in the truck, of course, cuz add a 240lb person to the truck, you add 240lbs to that 5606 curb weight number and get 5,846lbs which equates to a max towing capacity of 11,954lbs with me driving- which is what the guide assumes as well- 200lb driver rates it at 12,000lbs.

2020 2500 normal roof 144" length V6 crew sprinter figured out the same way as gm/ford/ram:

GCWR: 13,930lbs
-Curb weight: 5,280lbs
Towing cap: 8,630lbs but not what MB says... MB Says 5,000lbs max.

best I can figure out- MB says max trailer package is with max van payload capacity also.

because 13,930lbs gcwr - 5280lbs curb - 3,770 lbs payload - 5,000lbs trailer capacity = -120lbs. awfully close to max payload of 3770lbs, max trailer of 5,000lbs and curb of 5280.

kinda goofy.

thank you for reading.

long "bed" to fit a mountain sled in when you finally rejoin your passion with us

NOW WE'RE TALKING

and "us"? you got a sled again?!

these sprinters have such hilariously awesome options... one im reading about is auxiliary fuel tap. meaning from the factory they'll come with a spot to connect to say a diesel auxiliary heater to heat the rear cab without the motor running :nutz:
