and go.

I'm looking for something for my truck, looking at going 295/70-18 so around 34" tall. trying to get something that has nice-enough highway manners, yet is a monster in the snow, and is going to do well on gravel/dirt roads and occasional slick stuff.

function is primary, form & looks is definitely secondary.

so far im interested in a few of these.. but REALLY open to other suggestions.

Nitto's NEW Ridge Grappler... brand new tire... dunno much about nitto

They're quiet compared to most off road tires. I've stuffed my Jeep in a few precarious places with them. They look good and they wear very nicely. Decently priced as well. They're good in the snow and rain as well since they have big lugs to evacuate the water but enough siping to help stay on the road unlike a Mickey Thompson MTZ or some other blocky tire.

they seem to only have 275/70r18 - 33.4" and 285/65r18 - 33" tall... nothing around where i want.

they do have a 325/65r-18 which is 34.8 but i dont think i want to go that wide or tall.

My big concern for A/T tires would be too aggressive of tread for minimal off-road use. I mean, if you are trail crawling with them then it makes sense to get an aggressive tire. But, I would think that some of the less aggressive tires would give a better ride quality in terms of NVH and mpg's yet still be able to handle good snow a decent off-road use.

i dont hate those either, did you look at any of the tires i posted though?

the new nittos look kinda neat. and i do like the at3's from cooper.

What are the advantages of getting taller rubber than stock?
i want to lower highway cruising RPM for one, aesthetics for two, and a tiny bit more capability for a distant third.

Love my Nitto Trail Grapplers. Currently have almost 60k miles on them and ready to get another set.

Not a fan of the Ridge Grapplers because they remind me of the Mickey Thompsons I had on the Wrangler. Very blocky with little siping is not good for around here with how much rain/snow we get. Almost slid the Jeep down a ditch into a cornfield because of the lack of water evacuation.

Michelin Defender just looks like your typical all weather tire, can't go wrong there.

Terra Grappler is for brodozers.

Cooper Discovery S/T looks alright but suffers from the same "blocky-ness" of the Ridge Grappler.

Cooper Discovery A/T looks like it would be best, IMO. As well as the Toyos.

Mickey Thompson atz p3. I'm getting absolutely no road noise even at 90mph, balanced PERFECT with equal. So far great off road manners

Those atp's look good. Would probably stand out more with the bigger sidewall too

nitto actually recommends the ridge grapplers as their best wet tire... weird right?

also they say it's their quietest a/t tire they have... hmmm.
