Clearly the stock 662 horsepower in the Shelby GT500 is woefully inadequate. Lethal Performance, with a help from a handful of shops, took their Shelby up to 763.9 rear-wheel horsepower and blew a 9.77 quarter-mile pass at 148.8 miles per hour.

As listed in this side mounted video, the driver is Jeremy Martorella of UPR Products, who Torque News points out likely did the Lethal Performance car's suspension. There's also a tune by Lund Racing, and a Wilson/Nitrous Pro Flow wet shot kit, which sounds dirty. That's where the extra 100 horsepower and added 228.9 lb-ft. of torque come from.

Over the past decade, fuel efficiency has become normalized. We're no longer gushing over the Prius, we're buying 40 MPG Hyundais and Fords. With that in mind, seeing cars like this still in action is a beautiful thing.
