So I have a Craftsman rider from the early to mid 90s. Runs great but doesn't always cut grass. I can drive it around and I can see it not cutting grass all the time. Leaves high patches. Tried different heights and speeds but not finding a pattern.

Tired of paying someone to cut my grass because this thing works like garbage. I felt it was me before, but now I believe its the machine.

Get the blades sharpened. Check the belts on the deck, make sure they engage properly. Not sure how fast you try and cut the grass but maybe slow it down a bit.

Another vote for pulleys and belts. Even dull blades cut grass, well they tear it but same concept.

Can I just bring it by the shop? You change belts, install nitrous, replace blade?

Jeff,

Anywhere else I can buy these parts? Unless I pay for the $35 shipping they are going to take over two weeks to get here?

Should be able to find them a lot of places. Tried Amazon or your local repair shop?

I don't know where your at, but I found this place in Mundelein that does small engine repair. The guy is super nice and his prices are the same as sears parts direct. Got me a new blade for my little lawnmower for $19.xx
