For mosquitos my chemistry teacher neighbor told me about Bifen (not Biden) concentrate. An ounce in a gallon of water in a sprayer and I just sprayed all the plants around the perimeter of our lawn and the patio. Mosquitos have been way down. Probably helps that’s he’s doing it too

Just cause I am bored at work, and still really exited about my new mower, here are some pics from my first couple mows.

My grass is not that good at all, but it looks good in these pics. I don't have a stripe kit at all either. This is at 3.25" or 3.5" height of cut.

That's who I use and I am generally happy with them, except they seem to not be really versed into correcting lawns other than weeds, fertilizing, aeration. I went down a rabbit hole this Spring and watched a lot of Ryan Knorr's videos (link was posted already) and he has a lot of great tips and tricks.

You're not the first I have seen say that.

My local home depot got a pallet of Milorganite in. It sold out in a day.

Have a SeedSuperStore Bluebank, Bewitched and Bluenote certified seed Kentucky bluegrass Mix in the mail to overseed my front yard with in September. Quality grass seed is ridiculously expensive. Think I’m doing a turf type tall fescue KBG blend in the back yard.

Was going to start a new thread and then I saw this. Been working on my lawn on/off since June. Bought house 2 years ago, After the first winter, found out the PCV valve for my sprinkler broke. Long story short, went an entire year without getting it fixed. Fixed it in May this year. Slowly making improvements on my lawn. Went from completely dead to now partially alive  Still a learning experience, sort of wish I just bought sod.

June - completely dead grass & 2ft weeds

July - Pulled weeds, seeded a bit. Some growth.

August - rented a dethatcher, did a few passes, pulled up a lot of dead grass. I realized now, I should have gotten a claw and ripped out the dead sod instead.
No Picture but the front is getting there really well. Probably mostly fixed within the next two week.

Back- Lots of growth in the one section. Just bought a mower and cut it. Maybe too short, but there's a lot of nothing in other areas. I know I didn't completely remove the dead sod in some areas but others are 100% dirt. Need to do a soil test but I keep forgetting to stop at home depot when I'm in town.

Originally was going to leave the cut grass as mulch, I have it in a pile (not pictured) in the bottom right corner but unsure. Nothing is really decomposing here, just wilts.

Seeds in for the front just need soil temps to come down a bit. Figure mid late August I’ll aerate the shit out of it and get this seed down with some Carbon Earth X start. Doing GCI Turf academy’s turf type tall fescue in the back yard since that and fine fescue are all I can seem to keep alive back there with the shade.

I lose the fight with crabgrass every year about this time in the season. Thought I had it under control this year, but nope. A bunch popped up. So I bought one of those pull behind sprayers for the mower. Looks like I've got a pretty good kill on the crabgrass now about a week after spraying.

I picked up some Miloganite fertilizer and I have feeling I’m just feeding the crabgrass and it will spread fast after the miloganite. Even though I sprayed the for crab grass 3 weeks ago.

I've been putting on preemergence for crab grass the last 7 years or so. My lawn looks great until about the end of July, then crabgrass starts coming up.

It looks like spraying it smoked it pretty good.
You can do a 2nd application before the 2nd batch comes up. I have the same issue in my lawn. Just don't expect to be able to grow any grass seed later that season.
