Went to go visit my mom in South Carolina last weekend. Decided to take the Colorado for the journey. It’s still on all stock tune and everything else. Before we left it did have a check engine light for a nox sensor but I gave zero fucks and drove it anyways. We left Thursday after work and made it to Louisville before getting a room. We set out early the next morning at 6am to get to my mother’s in Seneca by 1pm.
Driving through the mountains was amazing and the truck did great. Kept cruise control on and it rode amazing. Probably one of the most comfortable long trip vehicles I’ve been in. Best thing I did was put rain-x on the windshield and headlights, the bugs were pretty bad and they wiped right off.
Pretty decent mileage for the trip, averaged 24.6mpg and 54mph for the whole trip.
While there I decided to visit Gulches off-road park to see how the truck would do. I’ve never been to an off-road park so this was a new experience for me. Everyone there was super nice and they have different rated trails to try out. We started with taking the tour, it ended up taking awhile and we didn’t have a ton of time so that was all we did, but i was impressed with what the truck did. I tried 4lo and both front/rear lockers to see how it went. I did hit the skid plate once because of my tiny 31” tires.
The pics and vid don’t do the trail justice. Ignore our stupid conversations.
I would definitely love to do this again, I would also need to be much more prepared as far as tools and such goes.
