SUMMARY:

This position functions primarily within CENTA Corporation’s Aurora office involving communication with CENTA Corporation employees and management, vendors as well as CENTA Haan associates. The Draftsperson is responsible for providing Customer Driven Focus by creating, modifying and maintaining 2D and 3D models and drawings for new designs and quotations, drawings for both customer approval and in-house manufacturing purposes.

The Draftsperson works in conjunction with the Inside Sales Manufacturing Coordinator (ISMC) to ensure that assigned part numbers and descriptions, bills of materials, material specifications, work orders and drawings are correct and completed in a timely fashion. In addition, it is important to ensure that customers’ specifications, inspection and QA requirements are properly captured and noted on CENTA drawings and related communications.

The Draftsperson performs this function in line with CENTA Corporation’s Mission, Vision, Purpose and Values (MVPV) by promoting exceptional customer service and employee excellence.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• With the primary focus on customer service and exceeding the customer’s needs, the Draftsperson will provide a high level of drafting expertise and technical support in a prompt and timely fashion to support the sale and delivery of CENTA products and services.
• The Draftsperson will work closely with the Inside Sales Manufacturing Coordinator (ISMC), as well as members of the customer service group, and is therefore responsible for clear and effective communication with the ISMC and other internal staff members in a team environment.
• In addition, some communication may be necessary with customers, 3D SolidWorks vendors or consultants and external sales team members as required or directed by their supervisor.
• The Draftsperson will be responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining 2D and 3D models and drawings for new customer quotations (outline drawings), customer approval for orders and drawings for in-house manufacturing purposes.
• The Draftsperson will be responsible for applying and utilizing correct and appropriate specifications and standards in the creation of all models and drawings. A particular responsibility of the Draftsperson is to develop and maintain our in-house drawing capability and database of component parts and sub-assemblies.
• The Draftsperson identifies and effectively resolves problems in a timely fashion, both individually and with others, by skillfully gathering data, objectively analyzing information and developing creative alternative solutions
• Some travel may be necessary, primarily for training and educational purposes.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

Education in a mechanical drafting discipline and a general understanding of manufacturing processes is required. Must possess a good mechanical aptitude. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation is essential. Computer skills should include experience using Solidworks (certification preferred), AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and enterprise resource planning software (ERP).
