🔧 BUILD Jeff's 2020 Twister Orange Mustang | Whipple Powa

General Information

I am now the 3rd owner of this 1,960 mile 2020 Twister Orange cookie cutter GT. It is a premium 401a car with performance pack, A10, active exhaust, Recaro seats, and the Bang & Olufson sound system. Car has the digital instrument cluster which I love!

A little history on the car....first owner bought the car and brought it to Lebanon Ford @122 miles. Lebanon Ford then installed a Whipple stage 2 kit, id1050x injectors, MMR billet oil pump and crank gears, and the Corsa active exhaust. This owner sold the car in May of last year with about 700 miles.

Owner 2 is a total gear head. Guy has worked for ZF Group for 25+ years and his hobby is building street cars. The shop he had on his property was fricken awesome. Id say it was about 50' x 100' and had 3 lifts with an upstairs office loft. Anyways, this guy bought the car and installed a Fore fuel system, 3.15 pumpkin, TSP longtubes, and some BMR vertical links and cradle lockout. He then had Lund tune it with an nGuage. Says he had it at the track in October and it went 9.8 @ 146 on a 2nd gear leave.

My immediate plans are to lower it about an inch, and get some street wheels. I kept my old Billet Specialties drag setup so Im good there. Next winter I'll have the A10 built and turn it up a bit.

A Golf R tried to be cute on my ride home. Had a little fun blowing past him. Also, this car is blowing the ET Streets off at 60+ mph. My blue car never did that.
Those cars/drivers are the worst around me...(sorry Mook). The second they see me, its weaving in and out of traffic to get on my bumper and on/off the gas to hear their turbinator whistle.

So goddamn annoying. Every homo in a corolla S or some other jap box that they think is quick, they just fuck with me relentlessly. I really hate driving this car sometimes with that kind of attention.

When I had the ZL1 and the hellcat, very few tried to fuck with me in traffic. But they set mustang GT and then everyones got an axe to grind.

Yeah total exception to the rule. One of the super annoying ones lives a few doors down from me and it never fails he ends up always going in and out of our subdivision on my bumper just vrooom....psssssss.....vroooom....pssssss. One of these days, Im going to get him out on the main road when the whipple is on, and teach him a lesson. Of course hes a twenteen kid with Mahomes/sideshow bob hair.

Went to install the axles yesterday and got hung up when i didn’t have a 1 1/4” deep socket. So basically pulled a few things off and called it a day. Ordered the socket from McMaster today and it just showed up at my front door. Hopefully have Time to knock it out after work tomorrow so I can bring the car to the monthly dinner meat!

Just a heads up, getting the old axle out is tricky. I use a 3/4 round brass punch to knock the inner cup/shaft free from the C clip. Lifting the axle or pushing up slightly helps it release when hitting if you have an extra hand. I use a small piece of wood to hold up the center shaft of the axle, placing it on the upper part of the lower arm to support the axle up.

Thanks Drew. Pry bar won’t do the trick?

You'll fight them more then needed with a pry bar, but it is how i use to do it. The downside is you'll need a good size pry bar, and decent room under the car, which even on jack stands can be difficult. I found the easier method to be the one i said above, and no possible damage to the seals/housing like with the pry bar.

Also not sure if you know, but right and left axle inner stub shaft are different lengths.
