Yeah I actually wanted to make some of those, I just need to go get some more wood.

I was originally referring to the Harbor Freight stands that apparently weren't failing slowly. I think their problem was that the locking mechanism was barely making contact with the part that actually holds the vehicle, so it could/would let loose and the stand would drop.

I have these and they kick ass! Not cheap at all. Not sure cheap is what you want in a jackstand though!

The Esco version of these are sitting under my christmas tree. My old craftsman ones just are a pain to use with the Datsun.

I use a combination of cribbing and ramps when I need to get the vehicle pretty high, I have a set of craftsman jack stands I use if I don’t plan on pulling the jack out just as a safety

The 4 pointers on uneven spots are super sketchy!

It's not the weight of the car crushing the jack that scares me. It's the jack tipping over or the car slipping off the jack that does.

I have some that anyone on here can have if they want them.... Think they're 2 ton versions.

I bought bigger ones to get my fat ass farther under the car, and have no use for these anymore.

?? I'll take them. I had a very nice set of 4 and lost one. So it sucks using 3 of one kind and the 4th a smaller one
Also came across a 36" 4dr lateral today. Would that work for your office or do you need to have 5dr?

Are these the low profile ones or their standard ones? Also, how high do they extend out to and how tall are they without being extended?

I think they are the low profile ones. I don’t know off the top of my head, I’ll measure for you tomorrow.

At one point I was going to buy some jack stands and told my self "I'll just go buy some harbor freight ones." Then I was like "err, there's certain things you don't want to buy from HF." A few months later I heard about all their recalls.

The one thing he got wrong is that you won't "bump off" a jack stand via the handle typically. The pin should be a shear pin so if you try to rotate it to disengage with weight on it you can't.
