2/14/21 UPDATE

I wasn't able to get an order in for the C8.R by the time my dealer got his allocation, all 1,000 C8.R's were gone.

so, this afternoon I took delivery of my second choice.

Initial impressions, after 35 miles

  • fastest new car purchase ever, I was in and out within 45 mins
  • break-in rev limiter is poopy
  • I really miss not having a third pedal
  • interior is light years ahead of my old C6
  • center stack is a bit strange, and isolates you from the passenger
  • the B pillar is a colossal blind spot
  • love the steering wheel
  • front lift is awesome
  • kinda wish I went with a convertible, we'll see what it's like when the weather warms up

-Personally, I see no need for Z51. I can't out drive the base cars suspension. For resale though I completely understand adding the option.
-I also would never get the glass roof with any color other than black on a C7 or C8 since GM is now painting the A pillars and the roof is now more than just a halo.
-Hypersonic is an awesome color, I think it looks great with the red interior. GT1 seats are supposed to be more comfortable.
-I also agree with coupe over convertible. I also like being able to see the engine through the back window.
-2LT is a must order option.

I'm super jealous of your order :s00ls:

Ummm.. It's Jack... He's getting a convertible.. Period...

Have you ever seen that hair flying in the wind so majestically...

if the C8 didn't have the removable roof, there would be no question, convertible without a doubt.

a coupe with the roof panel removed will still allow my silver locks to flow through the air.

great article.

but I'm still a bit undecided. and I'm just not sold on it being worth the $6,500 premium.

Reasons for getting the Convertible -
  • I like the styling / lines of the convertible with the top down, much better than coupe. looks more "exotic"
  • 30mph top down operation, no need to mess with the removable coupe top
  • I love having convertibles for my fun/weekend cars, it's a nice point of differentiation from my daily driver
Reasons against getting the Convertible -
  • The $6,500 premium isn't likely to be recouped during resale
  • The pool of buyers is smaller for convertibles, when I go to sell it
  • The coupe's removable roof is probably enough for me to be happy with
