So I picked up another M car 2 weeks ago. Most likely will be a keeper for now. Actually picked it up from a COPART auction (never done this before). Car is clean title 88k miles run and driver. Also, has a pretty lengthly service history. Why was it at COPART you say? Maybe I can share that story another time. LOL

Maybe Jimy Bilmo Dr. Jimbo can guess what it is based off these photos.

First thing to fix is DSC light coming on and light for steering angel sensor.

So the tear down begins. Have to remove airbag, steering wheel, clock spring and all the switches and angel sensor sits beneath all that crap. They are known to get dirty and you can clean them to fix and extend the life of them. So that is what I have done.

Definitely was dirty and if you ran you finger across it was not smooth. A little rubbing alcohol and all is well.

Recalibrated and numbers looked great.

Little update here. So only issues this car had when I got it was the steering angle sensor. Which I took apart and fixed .(shown above). Second issue was a PDC error messages . So since the car is chilling for winter decided to tackle replacement . Sensor should be here soon from Lithuania ?. This also allowed me to see how damn clean underneath this M5 is.

My in-laws E60 needed a satellite b pillar sensor. Almost $500 (retail). Ordered one from Latvia. Paid more to ship it than the sensor itself. Coded and programmed and back in business. Why Latvia and Lithuania have all the parts for the Germans is beyond me, but I love it.

If you need any help with future Lithuanian purchases or communications, let me know. It’s where the g/f spent her first 30 years or so. Fluent in Russian too, but not by choice.

I'm amazed how quickly you got that part. The g/f can send things back to LT, and it'll take weeks to show up. Her cousin sent her a package the first week of December, it arrive here the second week of January. On the last bit of things she sent, she used USPS "Express" 3-5 days, took 14 days to arrive.

Car had one more silly issue. The old tighten the gas cap message which throws a check engine light. So normally this is caused by bad seal on gas cap or DMTL pump which is part of the evap system and leak detection. Or broken hose related to evap system. Took fender liner off and looks like someone replaced DMTL pump and did not secure vac hose properly. I love free fixes!!! This sucker is driving great and well sorted. And umm yaaaaa I still actually own it ?
