my boss has a c5 that he got "fine"... "clean title" from florida.

carfax comes back as total loss. has "clear" IL title in hand after registering it now too.

too many work arounds for literally all of it.

carfax blows because it could discredit totally fine vehicles..

not to mention carfax won't take into account if someone pays out of pocket to fix a vehicle.

there was a 10ish gt500 at a local shop right after they came out "back in the day"

dude put it through a fence and nearly the whole thing was getting repainted/body work.


fucker was payin' out of pocket cuz he didn't want it to hit the carfax and mess with the value.

new owner would have ZERO idea.

I have done that twice in order to keep it off Carfax. Damage was less than $1500 both times and was very minimal.

but at the same time, if whatever goes to a "good shop" you'd be none the wiser that the car was ever involved in shit. and will be 100% hunky dory.

that's the real crime with carfax.

It's not carfax in this case. It's the greedy insurance company being buthurt they pay out over what they say is its value. THEY report it as total loss. As long as the title wasn't surrendered it wouldn't have a branded title.
