I'd just drive those steppers via a duet board and run open g code.

No gonna lie, with steppers I've already done the math for my index. Tight leadscrews mean 3grand or less for full 3 axis and a dro.

Just a dro is over 700 for decent.

I need to put 5 4-40 holes in this. What brand tap do I use, what do I lube with and anything else you may suggest.

I did this without breaking the tap. I think the guide was a key to success honestly.

I really want a screw machine, have no space for it nor really the ability to transport it.
