I remember when Mook posted a picture of GTR and you were bitching about how the front bumper paint didn't match the rest of the car. Today, I present to you the $115K ZR1!!! GM FTL!

Are you serious? Why would just the hood be repainted and not either fenders or front bumper????

One of the shocker members is in Idaho for the year, and he saw this parked out somewhere in Idaho. He took the pictures. Nobody even noticed the difference in the hood until I pointed it out. Isn't the hood painted elsewhere? When SLP was painting SS parts, they didn't match either.

Well this is the hood, not the front bumper. Obviously the hood wasn't painted at the same time or place as the rest of the vehicle. Poor production operations.

That's what I was thinking. I remember when VW first came out with the new Beetle and they had an issue with certain colors because the fenders are SMC instead of metal and the paint changed hues. It was very noticable in the sunlight.

Silver paint does that. Panels seperated by body gaps that are at different angle are like that.

The silver paint GM uses is by far one of the best I've had to work with and own myself.

news flash, damn near every car on the road is like that. The bumpers and other plastic parts of the car are not painted at the same time or place as the rest of the car.

1. You can't compare panels that are at different angles to the light source.
2. Painted plastic and painted metal will never be the exact same color. Even if you shoot them with the exact same batch of paint at the same time and location, they won't be perfect. Doesn't matter what company painted the car. An experienced painter is your best friend when it comes to color matching panels.

That's a pretty common thing with silver and I'm not sure it's a defect. My 98' Grand Prix used to look like the bumper was a completely different shade of silver depending on what angle you looked at it.

Does anyone really care? It's not like it makes the ZR-1 any less prone to making my peepee straighten up.
