Years ago, the standard procedure for the 8 speed transmission issue:
1. trans flush ( or fluid exchange )
2. if that did not work, replace the Torque Convertor
3. if that did not work, replace the transmission

I had ZERO issues with my 2016. Sucks to hear that vehicles are still experiencing this issue.

I didn't know they offered the 8-speed in 2021. Learn something new everyday. Though I love my Ram and it has been relatively reliable minus the AFM cam lobe issue, I find myself gravitating more towards the Silverado for my next truck.

I shouldn't have called it a stutter, it's a misfire. It does it in park/idle you name it. I'm thinking it's a dirty injector or a bad coil or something.

i was thinking this was what you meant when I said id be kinda nervous- cuz that could also be a lifter issue maybe? some 21's were made without afm/dod being active does yours have it?

Sounds like it has a warranty. Best case scenario it’s afm related and you get yourself a new engine out of it, or it’s something simple. Seems low miles for an ignition issue vs afm though

I don't believe it has AFM or DFM since I've never noticed cylinder deactivation.

Yes it's a CPO with 1 year 12k miles bumper to bumper and I've still got the powertrain factory warranty till Nov 2026 or 100k miles.

gm's 10 speed unlike ford's 10 speed even though they're the same fucking transmission but ford couldn't figure their shit out with it
I didn't love the way the 10spd acted in my 2018 F150, but my coworker is still driving it and its going strong with around 150k miles. Never has had a trans service and I was not nice to it....ever. lol

Also, never noticed a studder with mine, just hated the shift strategy.

Update:

Took it into the local stealership for warranty work this morning.

The mis firing has gotten worse, it went from barely noticeable and very infrequent to damn near every time I drove the truck for the whole time it was running. It finally threw a code and showed the engine light on the dash a few days ago.

I've also gotten Parking Brake assist service every time I started the truck. Today it wouldn't disengage the parking brake, I literally dragged the rear wheels a foot or so in my driveway before it let go. I never use the parking brake but it engages automatically due to the incline of my driveway. Had the same thing happen on my impala as well.

And yes this fuggin thing has DFM.

So when I get's back from the dealership I'm going to look at a programmer like Pulsar or something to shut off the Auto-Start/Stop and shut off DYM. Any recommendations out there?

Also how do I keep the stupid parking brake from automatically engaging when I park this thing in my driveway?

Even if it engages, you can just give it a touch of gas and it auto releases it.

Hmmm. lifter failure.

I have the Range AFM disabler that I plug in to the DLC port on the G8. It's been like that for a couple years now, no issues that I can detect. I know that not all years are supported though, so YMMV.

As to the electronic parking brake, on another manufacturer's vehicle, I have noticed when in the driveway, if I let off the brake too quickly after turning the knob in to a gear, it engages. I think it's just a learning curve to become accustomed to it.

Range ones are on clearance on holleys website. They seem to do both.

Edit: they’re $200 on amazon

it electronically having afm/dod isn't what caused his shit to break. it having the lifters it has is what did.

the disabler is a bandaid at best
