So, I threw the headers on my 327 to see how they fit. After threading in some spark plugs, I realized that they are tight to the primaries. In fact, the boot would touch. After doing some “clearancing” it got a little better. How close is too close? I plan to get the headers Jet Hot ceramic coated which should help with the heat as well. Here is how it looked at first:

And here is after I clearanced the primary:

This is just a random wire/ boot I had laying around. I’m just not sure what an acceptable distance would be to avoid toasting stuff. I think I’ve determined these headers must be designed for angle plug heads but I’d like to try and use them. Any input is appreciated! Thanks

I might have to look into those. I was trying to avoid it because I’m going for a semi-factory look. (Whole engine painted orange, factory valve covers, cast iron gray headers, black wires, etc.) I may have no choice though.

i assume you dont want to dimple the tubes?

you could always swap over to a shorty plug too... see if that helps.

The last photo is where I started to dimple the primary. I guess I’m unsure of how far to go though. I guess I can keep banging these hookers:cool:. The shorty plugs are a good idea also....
