💦 Detailing Gunk Stuck on Paint

I have these spots of gunk stuck all over my car. They seem to have been there for a while. I think they're tree sap, but I don't know that for sure. I washed the car yesterday and tried one of those synthetic clay bars and it didn't work. It actually made it worse because it cleaned up the rest of the car and now they're even more visable. What can I use to get these off? The car needs a polish really bad but I can't do anything while these spots are on the car.

Hood. This one was big and when I went over it with the synthetic clay bar it smeared it a bit and now that won't come up either.

Take a cloth and soak it with steaming hot water and let it sit on the spots for a couple minutes.

It will reduce the tar to more of a syrup and it should wipe up without scratching anything.

maybe just "warm to "hot" water.... not steaming hot water. The last thing you want to do is swell the paint.

That would make it hotter than it sitting in the sun? The surface is pretty damn hot. I can try it out.

Depends on how hot your water gets
but the towel is kind of insulating the heat.

if the sun isnt making the spots soft then use the warm towel in the sun to see if it softens

I've used WD-40 to get sap off. Works well.

3m emblem and adhesive remover, wax after the cleaning.

Whatever you use, test it in the most out of the way spot first. Start with mild treatments and work up in strength until one of them works. Other items you can try are bug remover and dish soap.

I've had great luck with this stuff. It takes even the nastiest stuff off.
