The feeling is starting to become mutual. I may have looked at a few 6.7's last night when I got home.

I may or may not have turned down an oil leak job on a 6.0 the other day, seeing what you and a few friends have been through makes me not even wanna touch one and have it come back to haunt me

But idk that I'd wanna mess with a 6.7 either and have to pull the cab off it all the time.

Just because I don't know much about them beyond idis and 7.3s doesn't mean I don't see what my friends get themselves into. I know the 6.7s are badass and can make huge power but that pulling the cab to do a water pump business is wild to me and I don't have the lift or room to be doin it. And 6.0s sound awesome and can make good power but I've not seen one in my life that hasnt been problems up until it got sold. Even after "bulletproofing" it with head studs and stuff.

If I'm wrong feel free to educate me, I'm all for learning new things. But don't forget that I'm in a little different world messing with little dual overhead cam stuff most of the time and most of what I know about this stuff comes from guys that work on them all day too.

Honestly, it's not bad. It's hit me with everything at once here recently, but I'll probably be problem free for a year or two now. I would expect anything that I work this hard to need some money stuck into it, unless it's a semi tractor.

I've been noticing some vibration when this thing shifts into 5th gear. I found a place to stick the gopro on and took a video. Time for a replacement?

Slowed down to probably 10mph and accelerated slowly back to 65.

Carriers are sloppy. The webbing is dried and cracking but if 70% of the webs are still attached it's fine.

I'd more so look at each u joint cap for dry red dust. Or take the shaft down, flex the caps see if any are sticky... A sticking/worn cap will throw the entire thing out of whack.

I'll give that a look. The webbing looks to be pretty much broke away, but I'll inspect it again.

How do I figure out what I need? There are tons of different options on rockauto for parts.

That cap is busted dude.

That's 100% a huge problem.

I show 45U01008 for all 2/3 joints on rear drive shaft. That's a ac Delco part number. Those are non grease able so they are stronger.

But I advise to measure bearing caps.

You don't have a driveline place local?

I'd drop the entire shaft off for new joints carrier Anda rebalance

Oh that's part of the ujoint, not the driveshaft? That makes sense if so. Nothing here local. I might have to go to Lincoln or omaha for a shop.

I'll bet you can't fully flex that joint when you get it off. Those needle bearings in there are probably dust

I'd trust you could do u joints yourself but there are a few tricks you need to know. Being farmer I thought you guys dealt with u joints on ptos all the times.

I've done a few, but they are a bit different on farm equipment. Plus, no balancing.

Haven't got a chance to mess with it yet. I'll probably pull it off sometime this week and see what I come up with.

I'm sure it's not the right way to go about it but I'm a big fan of the mapp torch and a ball joint press for u joints. There's a chance of stretching the yoke but it's way better than trying to bash the collar of the yoke in a vise and egging the shaft. Assuming your the kinda guy that likes to do things yourself.
