🔧 BUILD GTPpower's 05 F-350 6.0 PSD

General Information

I need a way to help me keep track of everything I'm doing to this thing.

I bought it from a dealer on 02/01/17. It needed an oil cooler and possibly a headgasket. I farm and own a construction business, so reliability is a main concern. I took it to a diesel shop a few weeks later to get the following done.

-Headstuds
-4" Turboback Exhaust
-Edge CTS2 Pro with Gearhead Custom tuning
-Edge EGT Probe
-Mishimoto Coolant Filter
-Valvecover Gaskets
-Rear Main Seal
-Updated Oil Cooler
-Rear Cover Gasket
-Updated Turbo Feed Line
-Rocker Box Gasket
-Injector O-ring kit
-Heater Tube O-ring
-Motorcraft Crank Sensor
-Passanger and Driver Glow Plug Harnesses
-Hpop Gasket Kit
-Updated Turbo Oil Drain
-Standpipe & Dummy Plug Kit
-Blue Spring Kit
-6.4 Pushrods
-6.4 Lifters
-Cam position sensor
-Racor Oil and Fuel Filters
-5w-40 Synthetic Oil
-CAT Extended Life Coolant

Ok I was able to get it tucked in there lower.

I really wish there was a better way to package this kit, but there just isn't a huge amount of room under the hood for all this. I'm also fairly certain those AN braided hoses aren't going to last. I will most likely have them replaced with hydraulic hose if they start leaking.

Other than that, she's almost ready to start.

How long should I be cranking it at a time when I'm trying to build up high pressure oil?

And after that and it's ready to start, do I need to cycle the key just like I would after a fuel filter change?

I put about 100 miles towing on with it Saturday. Runs good so far. Delta's stay around 4-5 degrees with a trailer behind it. Without a trailer, they seem to stick around 1 degree.

In the coolant filter cleaning instructions, they say to clean the filter after the 1st 500 miles. Then again at 1000, and at 1500. After that, just watch delta temps and when they start to get out of wack, clean the filter.

I did notice a transmission fluid puddle from the cooler line area, so I'll have to look at that and see if I can find the problem.

I have about 2000 miles on it now. Still haven't cleaned the filter, but I need to. Delta's are usually 4° unloaded now. It's supposed to be in the 70's this weekend, so maybe I can get it cleaned.

I did drop the tank and replace the fuel sending unit. IMG_20200229_151139462.jpg

The original sending unit was missing the check valve thingy.

Hopefully this fixed my gauge issue. My fuel pressure still drops like a rock at wot though. So I'm going to hook up a mechanical gauge just to make sure the sensor is reading accurately. If that's the case, maybe I'll try another blue spring kit to see if that helps.
