might want to see if your tune calls for a fass system type of pump. call the tuner.


like i said you can put a fuel tank in the bed and just run a hose and take it down the block to see if it still does it. thatll rule out a tank problem

I'm not supposed to need a bigger pump on this tune. People claim they aren't needed til you go to 175/30 injectors. But, I'll ask.

I put new batteries in this a year ago. Both new 850CCA batteries. They were load tested at 920+ CCA when I brought them home. Today, I tested them again, and both are in the 750CCA range. The guy I brought the FICM from claims we need at least 800CCA in this cold climate. Any idea if I might hurt the FICM since the batteries seem to be be losing cranking amps?

No concerns. Unless the batteries are literally drained before it fires. I assume it lights right off.

Yeah, no problems cranking. These batteries have 3 year free replacement, so I will just keep monitoring.

I haven't done anything with the fuel system yet. It's been really cold here. I need to work on it though, as I bought a trailer in texas that I need to go get.

I think I had a seal fail and got a little flood water in a wheel bearing.

Changed oil. Just got back from Texas. Bought a trailer online and I drove down there and pulled it back.

My ect and eot deltas are starting to get bigger. It seems to run about 9° now empty. I was typically 14°-16° on the way back with the trailer behind me.

I'm thinking about switching to the ipr external oil cooler if I'm going to need to swap coolers every 1.5-2 years.

So, I haven't done anything with this thing, but drive it. Almost due for another oil change.

Eot/ect deltas are getting out of hand. They are typically 15-20° empty and 35-40 while towing. The external oil cooler is going to happen as soon as I clear out some room in my garage. I might upgrade the turbo at that time as well to a kc stage 1. Depends if I have another $1500 to blow on it.

I also haven't dug into my fuel pressure dropping issue either.

Question: I always get the fuel level data error about every tank. It appears the sender hits a dead spot from about 3/4 a tank to a little above 1/4. If I drop the tank and replace the sending unit, that should fix my problem, right? That would also replace the portion where the line restriction most likely is as well, right?

Haven't done jack shit with this thing. The wrench light pops on sometimes on long drives for the p012f code, but oil temps usually only Max at about 220. I definitely need to get oil coolers swapped out here sometime soon though.

Oh, I did buy a new fuel sending unit. But a couple days later, a guy side-swiped the thing on the street. So I'm just waiting for insurance to go through on it, so I can have someone else remove the box and I have easy access to the fuel tank.

I don't think your cooler is plugged, I think maybe the trucks getting over worked. Your anal on your coolant and there shouldn't be anything left in the block to clog the cooler.

It does this without a trailer behind it though. With my enclosed trailer behind it, (8.5x20 and about 6k lbs) I will usually see oil 235-245. Which ends up being about 35° above coolant. With a fresh oil cooler, it doesn't even hit 10° above coolant.

Just for reference, this was pulling the enclosed trailer back in June. It is worse now.




Whatever is in the cooling system must be difficult to flush. I think by switching to the ipr setup and being able to put a filter online before the cooler should eliminate the problem.

The only thing I've had cause repeat cooler failures is an internally rusting block. Those you'll never fix, the rust will flake off for fucking ever. I've got 2 fleet 6.4s that I've been fighting and they come back for coolers every year, and I've had a dozen or so 6.0s do this.

FYI, back flushing the 6.0 cooler works, you just need to have the lower goseniff6so the shit you back flush gets out of system.

Someone actually makes an adapter to do this. I've always popped the cover off and jammed a hose back there.

Front cover erosion comes to mind as well, also if there is something not actually clogging your coolers, the tstat housing may be fubar and eroded. Next time the tstat is out, check out the ring it eroded into the front cover and post a pic.

Here's 2 different 6.4s front covers for reference. Notice how one has a completely fucked ring and one that's just starting.

This cause the tstat not to seal off properly, therfore not getting proper coolant flow through oil cooler

Checked the batteries this morning and both tested bad.






Took them to Walmart and got new replacements.

I think I'm going to get the oil cooler kit ordered tonight. Hopefully have a chance to install it in a week or two. I think I'm going to replace the radiator too while I'm at it, since I can see the crimped seams seaping a very small amount.

DEEZUZ what are the chances I've hurt something running the oil cooler like this? I had a hot no start a couple weeks ago. I had to crank maybe 15 seconds for it to start. I'm thinking it may have just been a weird fluke where the hpop sucked the res dry because I let off the key too soon. It hasn't done it since. Ipr at idle is about 27%. Cranking,it maybe gets to 55%. When it didn't start, ipr was at 85%.

Also, fuel pressure does some weird stuff. I still have my low pressure at wot, but every so often I get a really high spike of pressure. Sometimes it's close to 100psi. It could be my cheap sensor flaking out. Could there also be a problem with the regulator? It has the blue spring.
