Got a buddy with a '72 396 small block

In an 87 camaro. Only thing he can't figure out is how to adjust valve lash. How does one go about that? I'm posting up and he will read it later.

Over all it's pretty simple usually. You position the engine so that half the lifters are on the base circle, if they're hydraulic I take em till the valve is tight+ 1/2 turn extra otherwise you're going to need feeler gauges and the lash specs for what you're running. After you lash that set (find a book, it will tell you which ones to lash with the engine in what position) then you rotate it 360 degrees and do the other half of them. Not a huge deal, pain in the ass if you're like me and have done it a total of 4 times.

Small block?
I think a 383 stroker bored out to 100k would get you really close to 396, the silver s10 on here is 388 at 60 over, I'm pretty shire you can just use a slightly shorter rod in a 400 to make a 396 also

4 inch stroke crank 4.030 bore. Not common and def not oem. Prob a bbc

Rod length has no impact on displacement. It's all bore and stroke.

p.s. a 396 is a big block

Ok , its actually a hydraulic lifter.

Meant to say on the block "and everything" lol dunno why swype did that.
